About Our Community

We have promised ourselves that we shall always treat our residents as we would our own loved ones. Nothing less than our best will do.

Brentwood at LaPorte recently won the Reader’s Choice Award for the “Best Assisted Living” and ‘Best Retirement Community”

This is the promise that the staff at Brentwood at LaPorte – and throughout Brookdale Senior Living communities – has shared since our community first opened its doors. It’s a simple promise to be compassionate and kind, understanding and respectful – a promise to become extended family to the seniors entrusted in our care and to our retirees who have chosen our community for its active lifestyle.

The Perfect Location

Set on beautifully landscaped grounds with a courtyard, Brentwood at LaPorte is located in a quiet residential area just south of LaPorte, Indiana, and near several beautiful lakes and parks, including Lake Michigan which is just 10 minutes away. The town of LaPorte is just big enough to offer a wide variety of sight-seeing, dining, shopping and entertainment opportunities.

Located just off of Highway 2, Brentwood at LaPorte is conveniently located just five minutes from banks, grocery stores, physician offices, LaPorte Hospital and a nursing home rehabilitation facility if ever needed. Brentwood at LaPorte is called the Cadillac of senior living communities by our local hospitals, business leaders, and many of our residents.

A Wonderful Selection

Brentwood at LaPorte offers a wide selection of bright and cheery studio and one-bedroom apartments on two floors, as well as brand new individual two-bedroom villas. The community’s 124 units are pet-friendly, and they all come with full bathrooms, kitchenettes, individual temperature control and wall-to-wall carpeting. Our common areas — including our lovely dining room, card room and café – give residents and their loved ones the opportunity to get to know one another.

At Brentwood at LaPorte, we offer independent living, assisted living as well as memory care services to support residents in case their medical needs change as they age. Our community was designed to assist them as they age gracefully in the home they have grown to know and the staff that knows them best.

For resident’s who need a helping hand from our warm and caring staff, we offer licensed assisted living services, tailor-made to each resident’s needs, including 24-hour nursing support. We are the only assisted living community in the area offering such extensive around-the-clock care.

Strong, Caring Professional Relationships

The staff at Brentwood at LaPorte has developed and nurtured strong relationships with area clinics, skilled nursing facilities and rehabilitation centers, including Indiana University LaPorte Hospital, and several trusted health-care providers who specialize in senior care. The relationships that we share with key staff at these organizations help us provide a seamless continuum of care for our residents.

And depending upon what the resident needs for rehabilitation services, we will bring in outside physical, occupational and speech therapists to work with residents here on site. We can also bring in outside hospice services as necessary.

Our Staff

Brentwood at La Porte is proud of the care and dedication our staff provides to each of our residents. We are blessed to have staff members who have devoted their life’s work to working with seniors. Many of these employees have been with community since it originally opened in 1999. They are passionate about what they do, and it shows in the way they take pride in their jobs and how they care for each resident with dignity, respect and humor.

Our Community Lifestyle

A Wonderful Active Lifestyle

At Brentwood at LaPorte, our rich and varied activities program is tailored to our residents’ interests, skills and abilities. Our full-time life enrichment director offers a robust activities program that is carefully geared to our residents’ preferences.

Throughout the year, we host dozens of festive holiday events and special celebrations, which are very popular with our residents as well as their families.

Our residents enjoy all kinds of games, from dominos to Bingo to cards, as well as memory games that promote brain health. Our weekly schedule always includes different types of arts and crafts programs, as well as movie nights with popcorn.

We offer a wide range of excursions each month, including trips to see Arts in the Park, Amish Acres, and The Little Theater. Our residents also enjoy outings to Washington Park, Kessling Park, and popular nearby shopping locales. Every day, our wellness coordinators lead fun exercise programs, for every level of physical ability, that are designed to help our residents stay limber and build muscle strength.

For our memory care residents, we have designed an outstanding program to help them remain active and engaged. Activities in our memory care neighborhood are designed to promote the social, physical, mental, spiritual and cultural lives of our residents.

Our residents enjoy participating in activities that they have been involved with during their lifetime, such as gardening, fishing, cooking, puzzles, reading and sewing. We adapt the activity to the residents’ current abilities.

Partnering with the Local Neighborhood Community

Brentwood at LaPorte is dedicated to staying connected and active in the LaPorte area. We have a tremendous relationship with our community and participate in many local festivals, school events, and non-profit causes. Every year, our staff and residents hold fundraisers to support the local Alzheimer’s Association chapter.

Also in conjunction with the Alzheimer’s Association, we conduct a monthly family support group. We bring outside experts into the community to talk about topics pertinent to families and other caregivers. The meetings are open to the public and are ideal for anyone who has a friend or family member that suffers from Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia.

Fine Dining

At Brentwood at LaPorte, our chefs are proud of their culinary skills and always concerned about serving residents food that they’ll enjoy. Three savory home-style meals and three delicious snacks are served daily in our dining area. Each meal offers a featured entrée, and alternate options are also available to meet your loved one’s preferences. Delicious food, friendly staff and good companionship is what makes our dining experience unique. On occasion, our residents go out as a group to a variety of restaurants.
