About Our Community
We have promised ourselves that we shall always treat our residents as we would our own loved ones. Nothing less than our best will do.
This is the promise that the staff at Emerson and throughout Brookdale Senior Living communities – has shared since 2000, when our community first opened its doors. It’s a simple promise to be compassionate and kind, understanding and respectful – a promise to become extended family to the seniors entrusted in our care and to our residents who have chosen our retirement community for its active lifestyle.
The Perfect Location
Set on beautifully landscaped grounds with a courtyard and walking trails, Emeritus at Emerson is right in the heart of Northern New Jersey. Located close to the Garden State Parkway and the Palisade Parkway, our independent retirement community offers 98 senior apartments. Emeritus at Emerson is located next to an organic farm on Old Hook Road. Nearby are many markets and stores. Our community is less than a half hour from New York City.
A Wonderful Selection
Part of our mission at Brookdale is to provide choices for our residents, and it starts with the type of rooms we have to offer. Emeritus at Emerson has three floors with a total of 98 senior apartments (we have studios, 1 bedrooms, 2 bedrooms, and companion rooms). We have many areas of community space for our residents to relax in and entertain in, including our backyard patio.
Strong, Caring Relationships
We value strong partnerships with area hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and rehabilitation centers such as Holy Name, Valley Hospital, Englewood Hospital, Emerson Health and Rehab, Woodcliff Lake Rehab, and Care 1. Through the communications and relationships that we share with the key staff within these affiliations, we provide seamless continuum of care for our residents.
Our Community Lifestyle
A Wonderful Place to Live
At Emeritus at Emerson we provide meaningful activites that represent the interests of our residents. This is accomplished by learning about our residents’ life stories. Choices in social, physical, mental, spiritual, cultural and creative activities are encouraged. Residents enjoy a variety of live entertainment and outdoor excursions, all with the security of knowing care is available if they need it.
Every morning at Emeritus at Emerson starts off with exercise followed by coffee and current events. We have a computer program called Connected Living which is designed for seniors. Each resident is given 4 half-hour training sessions to learn how to use the computer. Every Wednesday there is a presentaion which illustrates how the computer can be used for their entertainment.
Partnering with the Community
The community of Emeritus at Emerson is active in the local community events. We often host local clubs and organization in our facility. The local schools often have their students come to our community to volunteer and assist us with our activities. Emeritus at Emerson often participates in community and local events and we are a proud member of the Chamber of Commerce.
Three homemade meals are served each day. There are two seatings for each meal offering two entrees as well as dishes that are always available. In October of 2009, Emeritus at Emerson took third place in the divisional dining services contest. We take great pride in our dining room.
Kicking Up Our Heels! New Year’s Eve isn’t a celebration without friends, fun and music! Our “Happy Noon Year” was a blast. Marion from dining services and our fabulous wait staff hand served delicious appetizers, finger foods and desserts. Our seniors danced to the “Amazing Russ Martone,” while kicking up our heels to Sinatra’s “New […]

I taught them to say a few words in Chinese, for example “nee how” , which means “hello.” Our Dining Services prepared delicious ribs and egg rolls. […]
