About Our Community
We have promised ourselves that we shall always treat our residents as we would our own loved ones. Nothing less than our best will do.
This is the promise that the staff at Emeritus at Fort Wayne – and throughout Brookdale Senior Living communities – has shared since 1998, when our community first opened its doors. It’s a simple promise to be compassionate and kind, understanding and respectful – a promise to become extended family to the seniors entrusted in our care and to our retirees who have chosen our senior living community for its active lifestyle.
The Perfect Location
Emeritus at Fort Wayne has the neighborhood feel that draws many to our location. From the white picket fence, to our beautiful enclosed courtyard, our residents enjoy this warm, homelike environment that is close to shopping, dining, country excursions, or just taking a stroll in our courtyard on a nice sunny afternoon. Our senior living community is located in the northeast section of Fort Wayne which is close to many surrounding communities. This makes it the perfect central location for those families or friends who want to stop in and visit on their way to, or home, from work.
A Wonderful Selection
Our small, homelike community has 63 senior apartments all on one level for easy access to our residents and common areas. We have three different sizes and styles of apartments from which to choose. The studios are ideal for those looking for the security and comfort of living in an senior living community, but wish to stretch their finances a little farther. The alcove is our mid-size apartment. This roomy-feeling apartment has ample closet space and a lot of natural light. It is more than enough space for a single resident, or for a “friendship living” option if desired. Our suite is by far our largest apartment option at Emeritus at Fort Wayne. The size, along with the open feel, allows residents to enjoy having a separate bedroom area, as well as a kitchenette that includes a separate sink, counter top, small refrigerator and microwave. All of our apartment choices have their own private bathrooms with walk-in showers.
Whether sharing a meal with friends in the dining room, relaxing with a good book in the library, playing games in the activity room, or gazing under the stars in the courtyard, our residents and their families and friends have the opportunity to socialize or take time for themselves. Each day at Emeritus at Fort Wayne is about living life to the fullest and letting us take care of the other stuff.
Strong, Caring Professional Relationships
Emeritus at Fort Wayne is proud to be a member of our local Chamber of Commerce. We also partner with our local senior center, Alzheimer’s Association, senior groups through Parkview and St. Joseph hospitals, and the medical community, in order to meet the needs of our residents, as well as others in need.
At Emeritus at Fort Wayne, we boast about the longevity of our staff. Visitors have commented over and over again about the warm homelike atmosphere, as well as the familiar faces they see when they walk through our doors. The management team is comprised of individuals that average about 25 years of healthcare experience. Our dedicated team of healthcare professionals has served our residents for several years and continue to live our brand promise, “Our family is committed to yours.”
Our Community Lifestyle
A Wonderful Active Lifestyle
At Emeritus at Fort Wayne, we value our residents’ opinions and we rely on their feedback to plan activities they enjoy. Each day is filled with various life-enriching activities that encourage socialization; physical exercise; creativity; and mental, spiritual and emotional well-being. Our residents also enjoy a variety of live entertainment and outdoor excursions with the security of knowing care is available when they need it.
We also encourage our residents to participate in our exercise programs, join others for cards, board games, and trivia games which promote Emeritus at Fort Wayne’s brain health lifestyle. Our brain health lifestyle coordinates social/emotional, physical, mental/intellectual, nutritional and spiritual activities with the needs of our residents, families and staff. During the fall and winter holidays, Emeritus at Fort Wayne holds Trick-or-Treating for the kids, a traditional family-style Thanksgiving meal, and a Christmas party for the residents. It’s a great time to come and check out our active lifestyle at Emeritus at Fort Wayne.
Partnering with the Local Neighborhood Community
Emeritus at Fort Wayne is passionate about being active in the community of Fort Wayne. Our focus is to hold events that provide information to members of the community to help them make informed choices. We partner with Parkview Seniors and other senior groups to be a resource to our senior community. Our seminars cover a variety of topics, including Alzheimer’s disease, financial options, and other resources that are important topics for our community members. Our staff is also proud to participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s through the Alzheimer’s Association each year.
We serve our residents three homemade meals each day. Every meal includes a salad of choice, a selection of entrees, and dessert. Meals are served on fine china in a restaurant-style atmosphere, so our residents can enjoy good food, good friends, and memorable experiences. Our residents may also select alternative meal options if desired.
