About Our Community
We have promised ourselves that we shall always treat our residents as we would our own loved ones. Nothing less than our best will do.
This is the promise that the staff at Emeritus at Las Vegas – and throughout Brookdale Senior Living communities – has shared since 2002, when our community first opened its doors. It’s a simple promise to be compassionate and kind, understanding and respectful – a promise to become extended family to the seniors entrusted in our care and to our residents who have chosen our senior living community for its active lifestyle.
The Perfect Location
Emeritus at Las Vegas is conveniently located less than two miles from the Las Vegas Strip, on the corner of E. Russell Road and McLeod Drive. I-95 is just a few blocks from our community, and Desert Springs Hospital is a short drive north. Wal-Mart is so close, many residents are able to get there on their wheelchair scooters (although we also take residents there in our van on a weekly basis). With so much available in the immediate area, we never have any difficulty finding great local lunch and dinner spots or shows to attend. Right here in Las Vegas is another resident favorite – Springs Preserve, a 180-acre preserve featuring museums, galleries, outdoor concerts and events, colorful botanical gardens and an interpretive trail system. Residents also enjoy the occasional trip to the Hoover Dam and the Valley of Fire.
A Wonderful Selection
Our single-story community offers a total of 61 senior apartments, 45 for our assisted living residents and 16 studios in our memory care neighborhood. Our assisted living units include studios and one-bedroom suites, ranging from 281-square feet to 477-square feet. Our spacious one bedrooms include a kitchenette with sink and microwave. Everything is included in the monthly rent, from weekly housekeeping to meals to activities and transportation to doctors’ appointments and outings. We have several common areas, including two living rooms, one of which has a large flat-panel TV and doubles as a library; an activities room; a beauty salon open three days a week; and an enclosed outdoor courtyard accessible only from the inside. Our memory care neighborhood is located in a separate, secured area of our community and has its own secured outside area. All of the doors in our senior living community have alarms to ensure resident security.
Strong, Caring Professional Relationships
Based upon physician orders, we can bring in any home health or rehabilitation service required to provide services in the convenience of the resident’s apartment. Services can include physical, occupational and speech therapy, as well as skilled nursing and hospice care.
Las Vegas tends to be a more transient community, so it’s rare to see such staff loyalty as we enjoy at our community. In fact, many of our staff members have been here for several years. While it might be cliché to say, they truly go above and beyond for residents. For example, if a resident arrived back late from a doctor’s appointment and missed lunch, one of our caregivers will make sure the kitchen prepares them a sandwich – a simple example, but one that illustrates just how concerned they are that residents are always well cared for.
We have two separate groups of staff – one dedicated to our assisted living residents, the other to our memory care residents. Both receive ongoing training, including participation in the Brookdale Silverchair Training Program, which covers a wide range of topics related to senior health, from accident prevention to Medicare basics to residents’ rights. Our memory care staff receives additional training in understanding Alzheimer’s and dementia, as well as in the Brookdale Join Their Journey program.

Our Community Lifestyle
A Wonderful Active Lifestyle
We are a busy senior living community in Las Vegas, Nevada where our residents love to join in all kinds of activities. They play every kind of game imaginable, from bridge to bingo to all kinds of poker games. Every morning, we have a chair exercise program, and throughout the week, we offer arts and crafts – in fact, several of our residents are wonderful artists. We have a Yarn Club, weekly movie nights with fresh popcorn, monthly family nights during which family members join us for dessert and all kinds of entertainment from musical performances to magicians – and every holiday is celebrated in style! Non-denomination church services are held on Sunday, with Catholic mass on Thursday and bible studies on Saturday.
Partnering with the Local Neighborhood Community
Our senior living community is a sponsor of the local Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk, the largest fund-raising event of its kind for Alzheimer’s research. Many of our staff members – and even some of our family members – join us each year. Every year, we also hold a rummage sale, with the proceeds going to our Residents Counsel to purchase whatever they wish.
Three meals a day, served restaurant style, are included in the monthly rent. We always offer two entrees at lunchtime – our largest meal of the day – and at dinner, which also includes an alternative menu with such choices as salads, hamburgers, sandwiches and soups. Everything is prepared from scratch by our wonderful head chef, who never takes short cuts. Our chef also welcomes recipes from our residents and will occasionally include the item on the menu – along with giving credit to the resident. We also have a hydration station in the foyer, where we serve freshly baked Otis Spunk Meyer cookies, fresh fruit and all kinds of beverages – especially important during our hot summer months.
