About Our Community
Nestled in the heart of Monroe, Brookdale Monroe, formerly Emeritus at Monroe offers retirement living at its finest. We’re located in a quiet neighborhood with rural country charm. Close to a wide range of health services and specialty clinics, we are located near highways, putting all the “big city” attractions of Seattle within easy reach. Monroe is a growing and vibrant city offering a variety of shopping areas and a historic downtown district. The nearby Cascade mountains offer recreational activities all year round. Several lovely city parks and Lake Tye are within a few blocks of our community, and provide a unique connection to the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
A Wonderful Environment
Brookdale Monroe offers residents a beautiful home inside and outside. Our community boasts some of the most peaceful and lovely garden areas you will find at any retirement community in the Northwest. Manicured lawns and blossoming plants and shrubs all lead to our backyard where residents can enjoy the fish in our pond or just relax, listening to the fountain. With numerous walking paths and several permanent viewing areas, our backyard is home to several native species of birds including ducks, herons and the Washington State Bird, the American (Willow) Goldfinch. As close as we are to local rivers and mountains, it’s not surprising to see deer walk across our backyard in the fall. Our community offers two-bedroom, two-bathroom independent Cottages with their own garages and fireplaces and over 1200 square feet of living space. Our two-story main building offers studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments and several common living rooms for residents to enjoy. The Whispering Pines Living Room is home to our resident library and overlooks our backyard patio. The sun room, a staff and resident favorite, overlooks the pond and fountain and gives a bird’s-eye view of our spacious grounds and is perfect for reading a book or visiting with family and friends. A wellness center, beauty salon and two dining rooms provide residents with choices for on-site services.
Our staff is defined by their commitment to our residents and their families. Active in the local community through service clubs and volunteering, our staff is proud to be dedicated to the seniors we currently serve and the ones who will join us in the future. We stay informed about senior issues through bi-weekly educational staff meetings and we participate in local and national walks to raise awareness and funding in the areas of Alzheimer’s and breast cancer, two diseases that affect so many of our residents.
Strong, Caring Professional Relationships
Our managers are encouraged to be involved with local business groups and we are proud of the long-term relationships we have in Rotary, the Monroe Chamber of Commerce and the Snohomish County Council on Long-Term Care and Aging. Local business groups enjoy our meeting rooms and we are host to the local Business Networking International Group (BNI) as well as the Chamber, Toastmasters and ElderNet, a networking group for senior industry professionals.
Our Community Lifestyle
A Wonderful Active Lifestyle
At Brookdale Monroe, our days are full of fun and interesting things to do at our community and nearby. We offer regularly scheduled trips and transportation around town for health appointments and shopping. We have monthly trips to casinos and nearby malls and quite often this is where strong friendships are forged. We have a Resident Ambassador Program, where our residents are reach out to new residents to help them feel welcomed and connected.
Partnering with the Local Neighborhood Community
Our connection to the City of Monroe is paramount to our continued success. We have been members of the Monroe Chamber of Commerce since the day we opened our doors in 1994. Currently our Community Relations Director sits on the Board of Directors for the Chamber. We have hosted Chamber Luncheons and After-Hours networking groups to facilitate strong relationships within the business community. These relationships result in a better awareness of the services we offer here and help in community awareness for seniors in our community. We have a long-standing relationship with the East County Senior Center in Monroe and the Snohomish Senior Center in Snohomish. Both of these communities provide services to the seniors that we are happy to sponsor and to participate in.
At Brookdale Monroe, we offer the “anytime dining” program. Every day from 7:00am to 7:00pm, our residents have access to a variety of nutritious meals served by our Dining Services team. A choice of three entrees for lunch and dinner, a variety of side dishes, a fresh salad bar featuring local fruits and vegetables, and homemade soups are available every day. Themed dinners and Premium Dining events provide numerous opportunities for “special occasion” dining. Whether experiencing different lands through authentic recipes or celebrating our veterans at a special dinner, our Dining Services team delivers.
