About Our Community
We have promised ourselves that we shall always treat our residents as we would our own loved ones. Nothing less than our best will do.
This is the promise that the staff at Emeritus at Staunton — and throughout Brookdale Senior Living communities — has shared since 1999, when our community first opened its doors. It’s a simple promise to be compassionate and kind, understanding and respectful — a promise to become extended family to the seniors entrusted in our care and to our residents who have chosen our retirement community for its active lifestyle.
The Perfect Location
Emeritus of Staunton is conveniently located near the intersection of the Woodrow Wilson Parkway (Rt. 262) and Churchville Avenue (Rt. 250) in the country setting of Northwest Staunton. Our community features Mountainside views in a nature friendly setting where deer frequently room our campus daily along with various species of birds. Though our community is located in a beautiful and quiet area of town, we are also very close to the major shopping districts and attractions within Staunton (Downtown 2 miles, Mary Baldwin College 2 miles, Gypsy Hill Park 1 mile, Staunton Mall 5 miles). Additionally, Staunton is a short drive to the cities of Waynesboro/Augusta Health Hospital (14 miles), Harrisonburg/JMU (30 miles), Lexington/VMI/W&L (35 miles) and Charlottesville/UVA (40 miles).
Set on 22 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds with a courtyard and lovely gardens, Emeritus at Staunton is considered one of Virginia’s premier retirement communities. Located close to Highways 250, 11, 64 and I-81, our community offers 99 apartments on two floors. Here our residents — in many cases, with their pets — enjoy retirement living. Yet should you need a helping hand from our warm and caring staff, we also offer complete assisted living services, tailor-made to your needs. Our services focus on wellness to help you maintain your health, so you can live as independently as possible.

We offer a wide variety of Activities every day of the week, 365 days of the year!
With its family-friendly atmosphere, Emeritus at Staunton feels like home the moment you walk through the doors. Our common areas — including our lovely dining room, library and TV room — give residents and their loved ones the opportunity to get to know one another. We also offer a wide range of activities each month, including several active clubs, weekly shopping trips, van rides and outings to seasonal events. While Emeritus at Staunton is located in a rural area, our community is close to Staunton Mall, Wal-Mart, Waynesboro Town Center and Gypsy Hill Park. Our community is also convenient to Augusta Medical Center and a nursing home rehabilitation facility if ever needed.
Partnering with the Local Neighborhood Community
Not only does Emeritus of Staunton enjoy an excellent reputation within the Staunton area, our community is involved in various activities that benefit the Staunton community as a whole. From the Alzheimer’s Walk, the Christmas Parade and Gypsy Hill Park Holiday decorations, to our annual Apple Butter Sale, we are a constant participant in community events and causes. These activities not only benefit our residents, but they benefit the surrounding community as well.
Emeritus of Staunton offers 3 delicious and healthy well-rounded meals daily, with entrée options for each resident. Additionally, our residents can expect select meals on a variety of “special occasions” throughout the year.
Our community loves to help people in our community through a variety of efforts.
