About Our Community
Camelot Place is located in Medina, Ohio, within walking distance of many national department stores, yet it keeps the feel of small-town America. Wonderful family neighborhoods surround the beautiful setting in which Camelot Place is so fortunate to be located.
Camelot Place is fortunate to be located in the heart of the shopping district of Medina. Within walking distance, our residents currently enjoy their independence through daily shopping walks to many national department stores and restaurants. Designated, paved walking paths to local parks help keep our residents fit and active. Our independent retirement community is just a short drive away from Cleveland, where in the past year our residents have enjoyed going to concerts such as Andre Rieu, the Cleveland Browns training camp, Cleveland Indians baseball games and even the casinos of West Virginia.
A Wonderful Selection
Camelot Place is unique and offers several different sizes of senior apartments. Unlike many assisted living communities, Camelot Place has large senior apartments, from our studios at 410 square feet, (national average is 300 square feet), to our largest two-bedroom apartments which measure 845 square feet. Our one-bedroom apartments range from 490 square feet to 625 square feet. All senior apartments are generously equipped with a microwave oven, an electric two-burner stove, a refrigerator, a walk-in shower with built-in chair, individual heat and air conditioning, an outside balcony and an abundance of closet and storage space.
Our 98-unit senior apartment building has the feel of a grand hotel or a southern plantation. The open air atrium gives it a feeling of grandeur. Sky lights brings in the sun and gives it a feeling of warmth, year round. Our veranda lends itself to relaxing afternoons with a good book or a place to gather with friends. We have ongoing events on our patio, including “Dancing Under the Stars,” performances by retired members of the Cleveland Orchestra, and barbecues.
Strong, Caring Relationships
Camelot Place enjoys many healthcare affiliations. Our medical director oversees policies and procedures to aid in continuous quality assurance. Selective home health agencies supplement care to many of our residents. In addition to supplemental providers who visit daily, we have outpatient physical, occupational and speech therapy on-site provided by Genesis Rehabilitation, a nationally recognized therapy provider. When appropriate, hospice services provide essential services to residents and their families. We also have a hearing aid specialist that comes in once a month to service the residents’ hearing aids and provide testing.
In healthcare today, from nursing homes to assisted livings to hospitals, employee turnover is at an all time high. At Camelot Place we enjoy an exceptionally low turnover rate. All staff members are treated as equal and each has important and relevant ideas to assure quality and loving care.
Camelot Place has been recognized by many local organizations dedicated to making our community the great place it continues to be. The local chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association awarded us as a strategic partner in the fight against this devastating disease. Additionally, the United Way has recognized Camelot Place as a platinum member for our fundraising events that aid seniors in Medina County. Recently, Camelot Place was voted Best of the Best for assisted living in Medina County by the local Medina Gazette.
Our Community Lifestyle
Independent Senior Living
At Camelot Place, we enjoy a wonderful atmosphere in a beautiful building with comfortable surroundings. Far beyond that, we share love each and every day. On any day of the week, you can feel the positive energy and thriving socialization in our community. Our residents share and treasure each other’s company from dawn to dusk. At Camelot Place, all staff members have only the residents’ best interests in mind when making any decision. The staff is empowered to make decisions that will propel our residents’ happiness.
The retirement activities at Camelot Place serve a variety of tastes for the residents and their loved ones. Just a few of the activities include art classes presented by the president of the Medina Art League, age-appropriate exercise programs directed by a fitness instructor, entertainment provided by local talent, area school programs preformed by the students and presentations by local historical societies. Input given by residents’ interests drive our daily retirement activities from bingo, horse racing, cards, trivia and board games to spiritual services and mind-stimulating programs. Our weekly happy hour combines both socialization and interaction complete with cocktails and crossword puzzles, hosted by the executive director.

Partnering with the Community
Camelot Place involves the community in weekly, bi-monthly and monthly meetings and gatherings. Weekly meetings for the church-based organization, Faith in Action (a United Way organization) provide the fund raising committee a comfortable place to meet for their breakfast meeting. Our community relations director is on this committee. St. Francis Xavier meets every quarter and enjoys a wonderful meal provided by our dining services. These events are very interactive with visitors, residents and staff members.
Camelot Place is an essential part of the Medina Community. A few examples include the mayor’s election night party, the chief of police speaking to our residents about mail fraud and security, the school superintendent providing a presentation about new and exciting aspects of our school system, an inter-generational day with 103 local middle school students participating in various, engaging programs with all of our residents, and fundraising events for local non-profit organizations supporting the senior citizens in our area.
We are lucky to have an award winning executive chef who has been with us for many years. We provide three meals a day, homemade soup at both lunch and dinner, and outstanding desserts. Meals are served restaurant-style so that residents can enjoy conversation with the company at their table while enjoying a satisfying culinary experience.
