About Our Community

Fremont, CA Assisted Living and Independent Living

Brookdale Fremont, formerly Emeritus at Freemont, is a Fremont CA Assisted Living and Independent Living community for seniors. We are located in a residential neighborhood within walking distance to local shopping and restaurants. Washington and Kaiser Hospitals are both just blocks away from our community.

Fremont is a dynamic city with a small-town feel but with all the amenities of a much bigger city. Ohlone College offers musical and theatrical performances, the Fremont Symphony provides concert opportunities and the Fremont Senior Center at Lake Elizabeth is just down the street. Fremont is located less than 30 minutes away from both Oakland and San Jose international airports. Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) provides access to San Francisco in less than an hour providing residents with access to theater, museums, and a wide variety of college and professional sports events.

A Wonderful Selection

We are a large community with over 200 private apartments. There are studios and one- and two-bedroom apartments on three levels. All of the apartments have two-burner stoves and full-sized refrigerators. The community is designed around two courtyards and all apartments offer balconies or patios. There is a media room with a large screen HDTV and a library with a fireplace to meet with family and friends in a warm inviting environment. The activities room encourages residents to learn new skills and to participate in a variety of games and programs. In the garden room complete with live trees and foliage there are treadmills, exercise bikes and a heated pool perfect for instructor-led water aerobics.

Our Staff

The staff consists of people dedicated to the seniors and to the concept of “team.” Many of the employees have been here more than ten years. They pride themselves on knowing the residents and providing superior service. They don’t just take orders – they anticipate needs and strive to make the atmosphere of the community as inviting as possible. Our staff is always on the lookout for ways to improve the lifestyle of the residents. They are always alert to changes of routines or behaviors that could signal a need for more care.

Strong, Caring, Professional Relationships

We have a solid relationship with the Washington Township Medical Group and with Palo Alto Medical Foundation. We have developed close contacts with all four local rehab facilities by working with admissions and social service directors. We provide the venue for Professional Healthcare Associates to hold their monthly training seminars, allowing local physical and occupational therapists to experience our community.

Our Community Lifestyle

A Wonderful, Active Lifestyle

The residents have a Resident Council that meets monthly to discuss what activities to offer. The Life Enrichment Director has a monthly meeting where all residents are encouraged to learn about and request new activities to be added to the calendar which has over 200 activities listed each month. We have a new resident meeting each month and invite the resident council and staff managers to meet the new residents. We also have a WOW (Welcome on Wednesday) meeting where current residents reach out to new residents to help them feel comfortable in their new home. To keep residents physically active there are five exercise classes each week, a pool for water aerobics plus numerous treadmills and exercise bikes. For entertainment, we have a variety of performers who visit frequently. To keep the mind sharp, there are lectures on varied topics and a library. We have numerous special events throughout the year to celebrate life’s milestones. To keep residents engaged in the outside world, we offer monthly outings and there is a concierge available for personal activities.

Partnering with the Local Neighborhood Community

We have forged strong working relationships with local senior centers. We host the annual Fremont Senior Crab Feed each February, providing a place for over 350 guests to experience our community firsthand. We support the Newark Senior Center by providing monthly bingo refreshments and have sponsored onsite billiard tournaments. We are members of the local Chamber of Commerce and host an annual chamber mixer. We are on the Tri-City Elder Coalition to promote the needs of seniors throughout the Fremont, Newark and Union City area. We are active in fundraising and participate on the “Senior Night Out” board which provides a gala event each year. Some of our events include TCEC meetings, Fremont Symphony meetings, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) meetings, bridge groups, church services and church outreaches.

Fine Dining

We offer “anytime dining” between 7AM and 7PM. Each morning we offer eggs served any way residents want, a choice of juices, hot and cold cereals, muffins/toast/breads and some special breakfast entrées like pancakes or waffles. At lunch and dinner there are three main entrees with four different sides. We are big on vegetables. Every day, there is a varied salad bar with about 25 fresh ingredients, a hot soup, grilled fish, hamburger, cheeseburger, hot dog, veggie burger, six kinds of deli sandwiches which can be toasted or grilled and quiche. For dessert, there are six kinds of ice cream and a variety of pies, cakes, pudding and/or cookies. There is a Birthday Dinner and a Champagne Brunch each month. We also host quarterly Premier Dining events where we serve cuisines from different countries. We also do BBQs and formal teas.
