Holidays

An interested party asks, “Does everyone leave during the holidays to go visit their own families. Is it lonely during the holidays?"

The short answer is that some people visit their families, some families come to visit and some residents stay and have fun with their new family at our Brookdale community. No, it is never lonely! The dining staff does a real bang-up job of creating scrumptious holiday meals. The decorations are lovely.

Do you want to be involved in planning holiday parties? Do you like to decorate community spaces and/or your own condo?  Do you like to invite your neighbors in to see your collection of ornaments? Do you like to participate in community efforts to help less fortunate folks in the neighboring town? Do you like to take evening rides (on the Brookdale bus) to see the holiday lights?  Do you like to take trips to local theaters to see Holiday-themed shows? You should see our Decorated Door Contest! Perhaps you just don’t want to bother with that stuff anymore. That’s OK too.

Please do not forget that not everyone has the same definition of “Holiday.”

Our staff, with equal panache, has created an Easter Bunny Breakfast and a Passover Seder. The holiday lights include Colorful Kwanzaa Candles, along with a Hanukah Menorah, and a beautifully lit up Christmas Tree. Perhaps soon we will add Diwali to the festival of lights.

Do not fear when holidays are near.
