The Book Club

Marilyn Walker came to Brookdale town

And took herself a look around

To see what all was happening

And what was sorely missing

She quickly joined the poetry group

And contributed a welcome whoop

“We are word people,” she noted

To books and libraries we’re devoted

Why don’t we start a monthly book club

And add to Brookdale’s hubbub?”

“Why not indeed?

Let’s read, read, read!”

So the idea developed

We were all enveloped

Barbara helped with the planning

Scheduled an August beginning

Good, we have something new

To look forward to…
