Drink More Water

Yesterday during a meeting, our resident council president, kept talking about why we should drink more water. This led to complaints about how many of us have to take water pills and the problems of getting to the bathroom in time. That's one reason why we don't drink lots of water. Someone suggested in gest that I write a poem about water pills. I wrote the enclosed, and she liked it.

Somebody’s got a sore toe

Somebody may be feeling low

Somebody has a secret woe

But Everybody’s gotta go when we gotta go!

Drink more water, we are told

Better than prune juice when we’re old

Now add a water pill, we’re told

To rid us of water our bodies hold

Our blood pressure will be lower

Our limbs will be slimmer

We’ll all feel so much better

Following prescriptions to the letter

But Everybody’s gotta go when we gotta go!

So, we plan our days by the nearest bathroom

Expect an episode or two of direst doom

Drink no liquids late at night

Bathe, spray, deodorize to ease the plight

Wear the old folks’ version of Victoria’s Secret!

We’re not alone, so let’s not fret

Sleep well, wake up, and don’t forget

Take that pill and drink more water

Thank the Lord we have that water!
