I'm Loved

This morning I felt dejected

To say nothing of disconnected

Then my two cats meowed they were hungry.

Today I went to see a new doctor

A remarkably familiar chore

This doctor said I didn’t have what

The last doctor said he thought

So stop taking meds prescribed for nought

When I got home the cats fought over my lap.

I’m nervous, I’ve had more than ten surgeries

My left hand (that I use to write) won’t open

I can’t walk because my feet are crooked and in pain

That my braces don’t fit anymore is plain

But Sugar sleeps at the head of my bed

And Pepper sleeps at the foot.

I moved to Brookdale Orange City

Where I could get more care

My goal is to improve my condition

Using all the ways doctors can mention

In my heart I have hope

My friends help me cope

And Sugar and Pepper purr that I’m loved.
