Patsy Attend's Beautiful: Carole King's Story

Patsy Read, 86, has a deep connection to music and Broadway shows. Although she has not been to many live musicals, she has seen a lot of Broadway shows on DVD. A few years ago she went to a live musical and could not stop talking about it for months. Patsy’s wish of a lifetime was to be able to see a musical with her daughter, Debbie.

Pasty and her second husband lived in Middleton, OH for nearly their entire life. A few years ago her husband fell ill and they felt that they needed to move to Kansas at the Brookdale Overland Park community. to be closer to the family. Unfortunately, Patsy's husband passed away at the beginning of 2017 and she still feels the ache of his passing in her heart. Although Patsy is also struggling with a memory impairment she continues to have a love for music.

Patsy dedicated a great portion of her life to serving others. She volunteered for 5,000 hours at her local hospital. She helped in the pediatric department and was also on the Auxiliary board at the hospital. Patsy also volunteered at an animal shelter, helping to feed the animals and walk the dogs.

Through Wish of a Lifetime and Brookdale Senior Living Patsy and her daughter, Debbie was able to see a live performance of the musical "Beautiful: The Carole King Story" at the Music Hall in Kansas City, KS. Patsy remembered this event despite her memory impairment weeks before it happened. Debbie stated that her mother was incredibly happy and excited throughout the entire event. Patsy and Debbie were able to spend some quality time together celebrating Patsy and her love for Musicals.
