Zane Goes Shrimping
There are plenty of fish in the sea even for 82-year-old Zane Miller of Brookdale Freedom Village in Bradenton, Fla., who has been an avid fisherman throughout his life.
Zane has caught catfish, bass, pole and wall-eyed fish, and even a five-foot sand shark. He has fished in lakes, oceans and rivers in the US, Canada, and the Caribbean.
But he has never been shrimping, until now. An associate of his Brookdale community knew him well enough to work with Wish of a Lifetime so Zane could spend some time on a shrimp boat, something he’s been fascinated with all his life.
His curiosity for shrimping began while he was out in the water on his boat. “He would see the shrimp boats in the Gulf of Mexico with their arms extended like angels." said Pat, Zane's wife, "He thought shrimping would be a wonderful experience.”
Thanks to Brookdale, Wish of a Lifetime and Captain Micah Fishing Charters in Titusville, Fla., Zane “learned about a whole new art of fishing.”
