What Our Memory Care Community Can Offer You
Just because someone you love is experiencing memory loss, it doesn't mean that they should have to sacrifice their quality of life. Our residents spend their days in a safe place, surrounded by familiar people who encourage them to enjoy life, experience feelings of belonging and purpose, and maintain their current skills through our daily path of engagement.
Here are just a few of the ways we help the seniors in our memory care programs make the most of this season of their lives:
A Secure Setting
Everything about our community was designed from the ground up to support those living with dementia. With keypad entries, monitored exits and an enclosed courtyard and garden, we strive to help residents remain safe while having a sense of freedom and independence to explore. And other features such as circular paths designed to lead residents to activity areas and way-finding cues help our residents feel comfortable. You’ll also have peace of mind knowing there is trained staff on-site 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to be alerted to an emergency.
A Warm and Welcoming Atmosphere
Your loved one will feel right at home with our purpose-built community designed specifically for the needs of those living with dementia, including Alzheimer’s. With several floor plans to choose from, our apartments have plenty of natural window light and storage, and some even have a garden view. We’ll help you make your loved one’s apartment familiar and comfortable with a move-in guide and a suggested list of what to bring. With gentle guidance and reminders from our care team, our seniors enjoy everything this cozy environment has to offer.
Consistent Care Assignments
We don’t just hire good people; we invest in quality training and education to help keep our staff up-to-date on the latest dementia care techniques. Our kind and compassionate staff use techniques like physical prompting and cueing to help residents maintain independence, validation, and other communication techniques to promote understanding and partnership with our residents. And we strive to provide the same care associates to your loved one on a regular basis to encourage familiarity and relationship-rich care.
In Clare Bridge, we go above and beyond just planning activities for your loved one. The Clare Bridge Daily Path offers a gentle daily structure of six planned programs per day, which strives to maintain our residents' abilities and encourage the use of their current skills. These include a morning cognitive workout with discussions, brain-stimulating games and physical activity with a variety of opportunities like our B-Fit program, walking programs, and dancing. We find this daily routine gives your loved one a sense of security that they are right where they need to be.
Personalized Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care
Our memory care program was developed by a well-renowned gerontologist and is deeply rooted in the latest research using a person-centered approach focused on creating feelings of belonging and purpose for each resident while seeking to preserve their identity and sense of self. We believe that no one should be defined by the symptoms of early, middle or late stages of Alzheimer’s and dementia. Maintaining identity and a strong sense of self comes from living a life filled with meaning, purpose, and contributions. And at Brookdale College Square, we believe having dementia shouldn’t change that.
