What Our Memory Care Community Can Offer You
Just because someone you love is experiencing memory loss, it doesn't mean that they should have to sacrifice their quality of life. Our residents spend their days in a secure environment, surrounded by familiar people who encourage them to enjoy life, experience feelings of belonging and purpose, and help to maintain their current skills through our daily path of engagement.
Here are just a few of the ways we help the seniors in our memory care programs make the most of this season of their lives:
A Secure Setting
Residents enjoy spending sunny days outside in our large courtyard with a gazebo and a walking trail where they can take in scenic views of the mountains and hills as well as the city lights of Los Angeles at night. Our community is set up with large circular paths designed to lead residents to areas of activity, way-finding cues and spaces decorated like home. With secured entries and exits and an enclosed courtyard and garden, we strive to help keep our residents secure while encouraging a sense of freedom and independence to explore. You’ll also have peace of mind knowing there is trained staff on-site 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to be alerted to an emergency.
A Warm and Welcoming Atmosphere
Surrounded by your favorite things and people who care about you – that’s home. Our apartments have lots of natural window light, and some even have a garden view. Brookdale Corona is a pet-friendly community because we know it’s not really home without our four-legged family members with us. Our community also features a town square modeled after a town center with a floral shop that offers gardening for our residents who love to garden, a pet shop for pet therapy, and a retail shop for residents who love to shop.
Consistent Care Assignments
Because we specialize in memory care, we’re built from the ground up to provide a stable environment where seniors can thrive. Our kind and compassionate staff receive continuing education on the latest memory care techniques. In addition, they specialize in physical prompting and cueing to maintain independence, validation, and other communication techniques for better understanding and partnership. We also assign the same care associates to your loved one whenever possible to promote regularity and familiarity. And our attentive staff handles chores such as laundry and housekeeping, plus medication reminders, dressing, and bathing, too.
We use an evidence-based practice called the Clare Bridge Daily Path to offer a gentle daily structure of six planned programs. These include morning cognitive workouts with discussions, brain games, physical fitness opportunities like our B-Fit program, walking programs, and dancing. This established routine helps your loved one maintain their abilities, encourages the use of current skills and offers a sense of security and accomplishment. It’s all about providing opportunities for our residents to live their best life.
Personalized Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care
We are committed to person-centered partnerships. In our care model, we build relationships with trust, loving concern and a sense of family. Knowing and being present with your loved one gives us a solid foundation to anticipate their needs throughout all stages of the disease and address behavioral expressions that may occur due to dementia symptoms. In addition, our care associates get to know our residents’ histories, routines and preferences so they can offer your loved one a sense of stability and comfort that they are well-known where they live.
