When you become a resident at our community, you’ll be treated to some of the finest care in the region. For our staff this isn’t just a job — it’s a passion. And they will work with you to create a personalized care plan that fits your needs. Here’s a little about our two levels of care:
Our team of caregivers and management work exceptionally well together, with everyone pitching in as necessary to make sure our residents are well cared for. Because we are a small community, there’s a strong family atmosphere here. What’s more, our staff not only gets to know our residents well, but they also reach out to their loved ones and make sure they too feel part of the Brookdale Flagstaff family.
Brookdale Flagstaff is a full-service community catering to both assisted living and memory care residents. Our assisted living community has 45 senior apartments available in five sizes, ranging from efficiencies, studios, alcoves, one bedrooms and two bedrooms from 312 square feet to 750 square feet. All apartments include a kitchenette, wall-to-wall carpeting, spacious bathroom that has a shower with safety bars and an alert button, and many other features.
All apartment units feature large windows, with some looking out onto our beautiful garden area, others facing the tree-lined front street and those in the back having views of a naturally landscaped area behind our community. Small pets are welcome so long as the resident is able to take care of the pet themselves.
Residents also have access to several lovely common areas, including a spacious lobby with seating — a favorite place for residents to gather. Just off the lobby is a library with a large, stone, gas fireplace and many books, which residents are welcome to borrow.
Activities, such as our morning exercise program, card games, scrabble and dominos, are typically held in our spacious community room featuring large windows and lots of greenery. A TV room with a large-screen television is located upstairs and is often where residents watch movies and play bingo.
In 2005, we turned one of our three wings into a memory care neighborhood of 13 apartments. It looks just like our assisted living community, with the same choice in apartments and the same spacious private bathrooms. Four units are private and the remaining are available as companion living suites — the ideal option for families who want their loved ones to have the friendship of a roommate, while reducing their costs.
Memory care residents have their own dining room, which doubles as an activities room. We are one big family here, with apartment doors open during the day, and residents out and about, involved in activities, engaging with one another or simply enjoying music and the companionship of our loving staff.
Following breakfast, most mornings at Brookdale Flagstaff begin with some type of exercise program, Throughout the morning and afternoon, our full-time Life Enrichment Director offers a variety of other activities from bible studies and book groups, to bingo games and arts and crafts. And in nice weather, many residents enjoy gathering on our lovely back patio or strolling along a walking path that meanders through a fenced-in garden area. Several residents also love to tend our vegetable garden.
Our lovely spacious dining room is a wonderful place to enjoy meals. Here we serve three meals a day, restaurant-style, with each meal offering two entrée choices. Lunch, our larger meal of the day, starts with salad and always includes a homemade soup. For those of our residents with dietary restrictions, we do our best to accommodate their needs, including our diabetic residents who are provided frequent snacks throughout the day.
Memory care residents receive three meals and three nutritious snacks spread out throughout the day as they tend to eat much smaller amounts in one sitting. We also work hard to ensure residents are well hydrated. And for all residents, there is coffee, water, juices and hot chocolate available in our lobby, along with assorted goodies.
Whether you are an Assisted Living or Memory Care resident, you can feel confident that our care approach is centered on you. Our approach at Brookdale Flagstaff is based on the concept that the person should be the top priority. This approach is evident in our custom care plans, tailored to fit each resident’s needs, and in the way we learn about our seniors’ likes and dislikes in order to provide a truly individualized experience for them.

Sometimes you may need a little extra support during the day, perhaps for bathing, taking medication or getting dressed. We completely understand and our staff can be there for you in the way you need.
With each resident, our aim is to let them live as independently as possible while providing a level of support that promotes a healthy and safe lifestyle. Our staff is incredibly skilled at giving the right balance of respect and support. They go out of their way to provide an exceptional blend of service, care and hospitality.
Attendees get to know each resident individually — their likes, dislikes, hobbies and family stories. So, whether it’s a scented lotion, a unique snack, a favorite recipe or a lifelong interest, we integrate everything we learn to create a truly individualized living experience.
We believe your care plan should be a reflection of your specific and individual needs. At Brookdale Flagstaff, we provide personalized care plans for each of our residents. We sit down with each senior, listen to their needs, and then we partner with them to find a plan that works for everyone involved. It’s just one way that we put your needs first.
For our Memory Care, we strive to help maintain residents’ abilities and encourage their current skills. From the type of dining we offer to the activities available, we work to engage residents’ mental functions, encourage them to participate in purposeful activities, and involve them in many physical programs. Our goal is to provide opportunities for our seniors to feel a sense of meaning every day.
We are invested in each of our residents and we want to see them be successful. Our staff is on hand daily for our seniors, providing a kind word and warm smile. No matter where a senior is in their life, we believe that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, and you’ll see that our staff strives to do that every day.
Our concept has embraced the latest research and innovations in the delivery of quality dementia care. Our teams have cared for many individuals with dementia, as well as for their families.
