Right down the street is Westfield Shopping Center, a major mall with over 100 different stores and restaurants. Downtown Joliet is just to our east, where residents occasionally take in performances at the Rialto Square Theater, as well as visit the Birdhaven Greenhouse and Conservatory, local museums and historic sites. Our community also borders the Rock Run County Preserve, a 1,200-acre greenway and peaceful oasis, with a three-mile paved loop trail for outdoor activities.
Brookdale Joliet’s community offers several different private and spacious apartment styles to choose from. Two non-related residents have the option of our Friendship Suite, where they can share an apartment for companionship and cost-savings.
Group common areas include a warm dining room, two libraries, one with computer access that residents can use like a home office and a large living parlor with easy chairs, couches and a television. An activities room is perfect for all kinds of arts and crafts, games and even “snactivities.” Religious services are also held here.
We also offer a comfortable family room, a covered front-patio with rocking chairs and a game room with pool table, basketball hoop and a television, which is the perfect space to enjoy sporting events and socialize. Our Country Kitchen is frequently used for small private gatherings and a private dining room is available for residents who need a larger space to celebrate special occasions.
Should residents require physical or occupational therapy, we offer the full range of outpatient services here on our property. Our rehabilitation partner, Angels at Home Health and Physical Therapy, rents space in our Assisted Living community, where they have a fully-equipped therapy gym. They can also provide home health therapy in the convenience of the residents apartment. Outpatient therapy is offered five days a week, and home health is offered three days a week.
Of course, residents are also welcome to use any therapist they prefer and those providers are always welcome to work with residents in their apartments or take full advantage of our hallways and common areas. A variety of healthcare providers make occasional house calls, including a podiatrist, an optometrist, a dentist and an audiologist that performs on-site hearing screenings.
As the population ages, more people are discovering assisted senior living and the peace of mind we offer. Our community’s approach focuses on being a trusted partner and listening to your needs, understanding the life you want for yourself or a loved one and customizing a solution that puts that life within reach.
Brookdale Joliet offers two levels of care:
Assisted Living residents receive personal assistance and support with the daily activities and services needed, such as medication management, meals, bathing and dressing, as well as daily living activities and amenities for housekeeping and linen services, transportation and recreations. Our individualized care plans provide an ideal blend of convenience and support, with respect for personal preferences.
Brookdale’s Memory Care was created over 25 years ago and continually embraces current research in Alzheimer’s and dementia care, coupled with the experience of caring for thousands of people with dementia. Associates help residents create daily moments of success, offering opportunities for them to experience a sense of purpose and meaning. A gently daily structure is provided to help maintain and encourage current skills.
Memory Care at Brookdale offers programs and a secure environment for those with Alzheimer’s disease or other types of dementia. We believe that no matter where an individual is in their life, each has the right to live in a dignified manner and enjoy meaningful experiences every day.
Deeply rooted in a person-centered approach, our program focuses on sustaining feelings of belonging and purpose while seeking to preserve a sense of self. Providing excellent dementia care is a complex task that requires ongoing guidance and teaching for our staff members. All of our highly trained associates receive initial and on-going training in proper techniques, approach and care for seniors with dementia.
An established set of protocols and techniques enables our team to intervene when challenging behaviors resulting from dementia arise. The whole-community philosophy is the key that empowers our staff to identify any unmet needs and be a part of the solution.
Many of the same staff members who initially joined our community have been with us for years. Our longevity can be attributed to one simple reason which is a special devotion to our residents. A strong bond forms when you work so closely with people and help them in difficult times while also sharing joyful experiences. Each resident is our friend and their family members, a part of our family.
The loving commitment our staff feels for each resident is evident in the love our residents feel for their caregivers. Our staff members are not only compassionate and caring, but they are also highly trained in all aspects of senior care and how to properly transfer frail elderly, encourage good eating habits and how to assist residents in bathing or dressing.
