Brookdale Lafayette is an adult residential care and Alzheimer’s care community for seniors living in Lafayette, LA. Located in the exclusive River Ranch neighborhood, our community is in the heart of beautiful Lafayette. We are close to many shopping centers, like Target, and the area’s major hospitals, including Our Lady of the Lourdes Regional Medical Center and the Regional Medical Center of Acadiana.
At our community, this isn’t just a job for our staff members—it’s a passion. Every day they strive to excel at providing support and assistance to our residents. Our community offers two types of care — Adult Residential Care and Memory Care. Here’s a short description about each one:
- Adult Residential Care—We provide you with just the right amount of support, as you need it, in order to make your life healthier and easier. But our staff’s aim is to allow you as much independence as possible.
- Memory Care—We utilize a state-of-the-art program, the Clare Bridge Concept, which has years of experience providing successful care to those with forms of Dementia. Our trained staff delivers attentive care with a focus of allowing residents to enjoy meaningful experiences, daily moments of success and working to retain mental functions.
A Quality Senior Living Community
Set on two acres of beautifully landscaped grounds with a courtyard, Brookdale Lafayette is considered one of the premier Louisiana senior living communities. Our community offers 80 apartments all on one level for easy access. Our Adult Residential Care community has 54 spacious studio apartments in two sizes – 410 square feet and 510 square feet.
Each apartment features many amenities such as a private, handicapped-accessible bathroom; an individual temperature control and a kitchenette. Adult residential care apartments either have a patio or large windows overlooking our professionally landscaped property.
Our Adult Residential Care residents share several common areas, including a lobby sitting area with a fireplace, a game area, chapel area, on-site beauty salon, activities room, library and more.
Our memory care neighborhood has 26 private studio apartments designed to provide a very safe and secure environment for our residents. Residents are able to bring in all of their own furnishings and belongings, if they choose to. The neighborhood has its own dining room and separate activities area with a large skylight, where residents do crafts, play games, read the newspaper and watch movies. The community also has a secure, landscaped courtyard with rocking chairs, swings and gazebo where we host many social gatherings, including ice cream socials.
Our residents enjoy many trips to nearby shopping areas and restaurants. On average, we take them out three days a week wherever they’d like to go; to Target and Albertson’s, to their personal bank, for ice cream, and much more. Often our residents attend performances by the Acadiana Symphony, visit our local history museum, enjoy in a movie or attend local sporting events.
Throughout the day, residents play all kinds of games. Bingo is one of the most popular and there are many opportunities for residents to cook, bake and make crafts. Our community is also very big on parties—birthday bashes, house-warming parties, and holiday celebrations.
We offer three meals a day, served restaurant-style, including an entrée, an alternative and an always-available menu with salads, soups, hamburgers and sandwiches. We encourage our residents to select for themselves what kind of food they want. Our memory care residents are served three main meals and three mini meals, which include a protein such as peanut butter or cheese, to help prevent weight loss.

Providing good quality care is a top priority at Brookdale Lafayette. There are two types of care we offer: Adult Residential Care and Memory Care. Discover our goals for each type of care.
Adult Residential Care
Sometimes you may need a little extra support during the day, perhaps for bathing, taking medication or getting dressed. But even with that little bit of support, you still want to maintain a level of independence. That’s where our staff can provide the right balance of care.
With years of experience delivering this type of care, we understand how to combine supportive assistance, to make your life easier, while also respecting your independence. First, we sit down and listen to your needs during a Personal Service Assessment. We do this because we treat our residents as individuals, and we don’t approach Adult Residential Care as a one-size-fits-all brand of care. During the Personal Service Assessment, we will be your partner, understanding your needs, and work with you to create a custom and personal care plan.
With our exclusive personal service system, you can live your life the way you want with the right care at the right time, delivered by the right people. Our residents enjoy life with the confidence of knowing we are here, partnering with you and your family, to customize solutions that support your needs as they evolve.
At Brookdale Lafayette, our residents become like family, and the way we care for our seniors is a reflection of that. Our staff takes a person-centered approach to delivering care, and we are deeply committed to ensuring that each of our Memory Care residents are treated in a dignified manner and enjoy meaningful experiences every day. We care for residents with different forms of dementia, and our goal is to help our residents experience daily moments of success.
We implement a care program based on the Clare Bridge Concept. This state-of-the-art program, with years of success, combines the latest research, innovations, and proven experience, to deliver quality dementia care.
We offer a gentle daily structure (seven days per week) for residents where they get to enjoy programs, at least six per day, that are designed to maintain the resident’s abilities and to encourage the use of their current skills. For example, one of our residents may enjoy an exciting discussion or brain-stimulating game as part of the “Morning Mental Workout.” Or a resident may take part in a group exercise or fun dancing activity as part of the “Daily Physical Activity.”
We also offer a specific dining program that helps residents enjoy and master the dining experience. Dementia-friendly menus are developed that help prevent weight-loss and include foods that are familiar to residents and easy to manage. Also, our staff will evaluate each resident individually and determine the level of support needed during the dining experience. But our goal is to encourage the use of utensils as long as possible.
