With Memory Care residents, it’s important for them to have familiarity and routines in their daily life. This is something that we do every day in a variety of ways — allowing for the greatest success in our residents.
Our community, for instance, was designed to re-create environments people have enjoyed throughout their lives. The community’s interior spaces are scaled and decorated like those of a private home, so residents feel comfortable and secure in their surroundings.
Brookdale Murrysville was also designed to ensure the safety of our residents. We have an enclosed courtyard so that residents can enjoy the outdoors safely. And all of our exterior doors are alarmed to ensure that no resident leaves the community without notice.
Just because a resident has Alzheimer’s or dementia doesn’t mean that they can enjoy everything life has to offer. Our staff works to provide enriching, thought provoking activities that are geared toward Memory Care residents. Each day we want our residents to feel a sense of accomplishment, success and satisfaction.
Some of our specialized programs include daily late morning mental exercises including discussions, brain stimulating games, and reminiscing; a variety of exercise opportunities including group exercises, walking programs and dancing; individual or group activities that provide a sense of purpose, meaning, and belonging; activities designed using the resident’s own social history information as a foundation.
At Brookdale Murrysville, we view our residents as individuals. Each one is a person who deserves to be treated based on their specific needs and desires. As a Memory Care resident, this is what you can expect from our type of care.
Alzheimer’s and dementia Care is a very specialized form of care, and our staff is dedicated to providing quality assistance to each one of our seniors. At our community we have a unique program called the Clare Bridge Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care Program, which uses the latest research to provide the best type of care to seniors with dementia. The focus of the program is on the individual — understanding a person’s needs and then developing a care plan.
Each of our residents receives an individualized care plan that’s tailored to them. We first listen to the needs of a senior and then design a plan to fit those unique needs. Physical and behavioral needs, as well as life history, each play integral roles in developing the plan.
We don’t want to just provide assistance to Memory Care seniors — we want to help facilitate feelings of belonging, purpose, fulfillment and a strong sense of self. We view our residents as individuals with specific interests, desires, family histories — and we treat them this way.
Our staff plays a key role in the quality care that’s delivered to our seniors. Each of our staff members has been trained in the proper techniques, approach, and care of people with dementia. They are trained on how to understand and successfully manage unpredictable behaviors from seniors. But most importantly they are trained on how to provide care in a compassionate, understanding and loving way.
Every day we work towards maintaining residents’ abilities and encouraging their current skills. We strive for our residents to live purposefully and for them to enjoy moments of satisfaction daily. In order to help us accomplish this, we’ve implemented a daily structure that includes a minimum of six programs per day.
Quality care is just one of the many reasons why our residents love living at Brookdale Murrysville. We invite you to come take a tour of our community. Please give us a call to schedule a time that works for you.
