If you are looking to simplify life without compromising your desire for an active lifestyle, you’ll love what we have to offer. Independent living gives a rewarding experience for independent seniors with elegant accommodations, restaurant-style dining, laundry services and the ability to trade in the responsibilities of home maintenance for the sophisticated comfort of a well-deserved retirement.
Studio and one and two bedroom cottages are available, including the option of a garage or car-port. Most of our residences include access to an outside porch area, which is wonderful for those with small pets. A beautiful living room area celebrates the brave men and women who served in the military and is also home to a piano and organ that are open for residents and visitors to play.
Whether choosing a book from the library, having a delicious meal in the group dining room or taking a walk through an outdoor courtyard, there are always opportunities to engage your interests, passion and purpose. With all of the unique features offered, we bring our residents together to create an exceptional living experience.
Our community is located north of Corpus Christi, over the Harbor Bridge, in a quiet coastal town. We are directly across the street from Portland’s Northshore Country Club and within a mile of Wal-Mart, the HEB grocery store, many local restaurants, a movie theater and shopping areas. Outdoor enthusiasts are a short drive away from the beautiful scenic bay which offers a great place to boat, fish, bird watch or enjoy long walks near the water.
We have a life-enrichment program with fun activities designed to promote brain and mental health, with several puzzle areas throughout the community building. Senior living activities incorporate the nutritional, social, spiritual, physical and intellectual aspects needed for well-being, and we offer a variety of stimulating programs including bible studies, social hours, a multitude of card games, men’s poker, bingo and the Game Club.
Residents can stay in physical shape in our fitness center that has a treadmill, stationary bikes, and an elliptical and weight machine. Brookdale’s own selection of daily activities include Zumba, the Walking Club, Tai Chi, Yoga and dance classes. For those residents who miss working in the yard, we have a garden club that takes care of a beautiful outside rose garden and all of the inside potted plants.
Brookdale Northshore’s life-enrichment director plans a variety of exciting and educational events throughout the year ranging from brain health fairs, Fourth of July barbecues and Thanksgiving feasts. The goal is to keep our residents socially engaged and provide their families the opportunity to learn and celebrate with them.
Independent living promotes a rewarding lifestyle for independent seniors. We provide vacation-style amenities and programs, allowing you the freedom to live a more relaxed retirement lifestyle. As the population ages, more people are discovering senior independent living and the benefits and peace of mind we offer.
Brookdale Northshore has strong connections with many local healthcare providers and area physicians. We are within a close proximity to a fully staffed emergency care center and several major hospitals. Located in our building, there is a therapy group and a home health agency available to see residents if needed.
A local physicians group will make visits to our community providing medical care and assistance, and for those who prefer an outside physician, there are several conveniently located offices in the city of Portland. We also have many other choices for local home health, hospice and therapy groups that come into our building to care for our residents and most take Medicare and supplemental insurances.
As a community, we are often involved in local events in Portland and surrounding areas. Every year we have a fun and exciting scooter race at Brookdale Northshore. We invite members of the community, including police officers, firefighters, family members, media, etc., to race electric scooters around our senior living community. Over the years, it has drawn a lot of acknowledgment and support from the city of Portland.
Our community hosts a yearly holiday craft bazaar in November that invites people into Brookdale Northshore to buy handmade crafts. For the Christmas season, we have many vendors donate Christmas trees and decorations that are put on display throughout the building and then donated to needy families in the area, just in time for Christmas. We also participate in local cancer and Alzheimer fundraisers, as well as events that benefit seniors and war veterans.
Our commitment to fine dining is for every resident and their guests to have a positive dining experience. We offer three, well presented, restaurant-style meals daily which are served in our warm and friendly dining room. A knowledgeable and trained staff makes certain that meals are nutritionally balanced and supportive of the health and well-being of our residents.
From our culinary training program for community chefs, to our select seasonings and bakery programs, we’ve created one of the industry’s leading dining services. We continue to satisfy the preferences and nutritional needs of every resident with fulfilling dining choices, and accommodate for special dietary requirements. You’re invited to join us for a complimentary meal and a tour of our beautiful community.
We invite you to personally experience independent living and what we have to offer. Please call us today to schedule a tour.
