What Our Memory Care Community Can Offer You
Just because someone you love is experiencing memory loss, it doesn't mean that they should have to sacrifice their quality of life. Our residents spend their days in a secure environment, surrounded by familiar people who encourage them to enjoy life, experience feelings of belonging and purpose, and help to maintain their current skills through our daily path of engagement.
Here are just a few of the ways we help the seniors in our memory care programs make the most of this season of their lives:
A Secure Setting
Our purpose-built community incorporates unique features such as extensive circular paths designed to lead residents to areas of activity, way-finding cues and spaces decorated like home. With secured entries and exits and an enclosed courtyard and garden, we strive to help keep residents secure with the freedom to explore. Plus, you’ll also have peace of mind knowing there is trained staff on-site 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to be alerted to an emergency.
A Warm and Welcoming Atmosphere
Surrounded by your favorite things and people who love you – that’s home. Our apartments have plenty of window light and storage. We help our families make our residents’ apartments familiar and comfortable with a move-in guide and a suggested list of what to bring. Our memory care environments feature areas of the community set up for safe engagement in gardening, kitchen work, handyman help, and other household and daily tasks. Life skills activities provide a sense of purpose, meaning and belonging as residents complete tasks related to everyday life.
Consistent Care Assignments
We hire people committed to helping seniors, and we invest in quality training and education to help keep our staff up-to-date on the latest dementia care techniques. We assign the same care partners to your loved one whenever possible to promote familiarity and regularity. Our attentive and compassionate care team handles chores such as laundry and housekeeping while providing support throughout the day, whether during meals, taking medication, bathing, dressing or more. We can even help you and your family coordinate care with outside healthcare professionals.
The Clare Bridge Daily Path is an evidence-based approach that offers a gentle structure of six planned programs per day, which maintain our residents' abilities and encourage the use of their current skills. These include brain games and physical fitness opportunities like our B-Fit program, walking programs, and dancing. But routine doesn’t have to mean boring. Our residents have a lot of choices. Bowling, string art, swing dancing and chair yoga are just a few of the activities included on the daily path.
Personalized Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care
To support a person-centered relationship, Brookdale Oklahoma City Southwest residents have care associates who are familiar with their histories, routines and preferences. This helps provide our residents with a sense of stability and comfort that they are well-known where they live. And our care programs are tailored to each individual and their level of dementia. We meet your family member right where they are, helping them maintain independence, dignity, and courage as we guide them gently through their day.
