What Our Memory Care Community Can Offer You
Just because someone you love is experiencing memory loss, it doesn't mean that they should have to sacrifice their quality of life. Our residents spend their days in a secure environment, surrounded by familiar people who encourage them to enjoy life, experience feelings of belonging and purpose, and help to maintain their current skills through our daily path of engagement.
Here are just a few of the ways we help the seniors in our memory care programs make the most of this season of their lives:
A Secure Setting
Everything about our community was designed from the ground up to support those living with dementia. With secured entries and exits and an enclosed courtyard and garden, we strive to help residents remain secure while having a sense of freedom and independence to explore. And other features such as circular paths designed to lead residents to activity areas and way-finding cues help our residents feel comfortable. You’ll also have peace of mind knowing there is trained staff on-site 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to be alerted to an emergency.
A Warm and Welcoming Atmosphere
Your loved one will feel right at home with our purpose-built community designed specifically for the needs of those living with dementia, including Alzheimer’s. With several floor plans to choose from, our apartments have plenty of natural window light and storage, and some even have a garden view. We’ll help you make your loved one’s apartment familiar and comfortable with a move-in guide and a suggested list of what to bring. Plus, we’re a pet-friendly community because we know it’s not really home without our four-legged family members.
Consistent Care Assignments
We invest in quality training and education to help keep our staff up-to-date on the latest dementia care techniques. Our kind and compassionate staff use techniques like physical prompting and cueing to help residents maintain independence, validation, and other communication techniques to promote understanding and partnership with our residents. And we strive to provide consistent care assignments so that your loved one is cared for by the same Brookdale associates whenever possible. This helps build out a relationship-rich partnership between a resident and their care provider, which in turn promotes familiarity and regularity.
The Clare Bridge Daily Path provides residents with a structured yet fun routine of activities like discussions for mental workouts and dancing for physical exercise to help maintain their abilities and encourage use of their current skills. The daily path is carefully structured to give each resident purpose and a sense of security that they are right where they need to be. Music is also an important part of life at Brookdale Olympia West, with programs like sing-alongs, music in the hallways and church hymns.
Personalized Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care
We understand that techniques that work for one resident may not work for your loved one. So instead, our care partners are trained to provide person-centered care. Our residents have care associates who know their histories, routines, and preferences to support a strong relationship. But it's more than just a care approach. Your family member will also benefit from our specialized environment and attentive staff to help them at all stages of the disease.
