Because we offer one level of care, we are able to specialize and perfect the way we assist seniors with Alzheimer’s and dementia. Our staff works with memory care residents every day. So they develop a level of experience and skill that many other senior living attendees don’t have.
Safe and Secure Environment
Our community features peaceful surroundings and a home-like setting designed to re-create environments people have enjoyed throughout their lives. Interior spaces are scaled and decorated like those of a private home and enclosed walking areas give residents the opportunity to safely explore their surroundings.
We want our residents to enjoy life’s precious moments, and we encourage them to continue engaging in different interests and activities. We provide activities that range from physical fitness to recreational pursuits to educational and spiritual programs. Each one is designed to stimulate, entertain and enrich the lives of each resident. Exercise programs are tailored to meet each resident’s needs.
Dining Tailored To Residents
Since we specialize in memory care, we are able to cultivate a dining experience that is geared toward our residents. We have a unique dietary program that was designed by dementia care experts, culinary associates, and registered dieticians. The program’s goal is for our residents to enjoy the dining experience.
We are on hand to assist in any way they need, perhaps using utensils, but our aim is to encourage our seniors to eat as independently as possible. Our in-house culinary staff provides freshly prepared meals and snacks with a rotating menu.

At Brookdale Owatonna, you aren’t just another senior to us. You are a person who deserves to be treated as an individual with specific needs and desires. As a memory care resident, this is what you can expect from our type of care.
Our staff takes a person-centered approach to our memory care residents. We view all residents as individuals, and we take time to get to know each one of our seniors — their likes, dislikes, interests, family history, and much more. We believe this personalization allows us to care for our seniors with a gentle hand and kind heart. Something we strive to do everyday.
Our goal is to help residents maintain their abilities and encourage the use of their current skills. And we do all of this while respecting our residents and treating them with the upmost dignity. To help our residents be successful, we implement the Clare Bridge Program, which has years of successful experience providing the right kind of care to those with memory loss. Through this program, we offer a Daily Path that provides a gentle structure to each day that targets our residents’ specific needs. It features…
- Morning Mental Workout — Daily late morning mental exercises including discussions, brain stimulating games, and reminiscing.
- Daily Physical Activity — A variety of exercise opportunities including group exercises, walking programs and dancing.
- Daily Life Skills — Individual or group activities that provide a sense of purpose, meaning, and belonging.
- Person Centered Life Enrichment Programming — Activities are designed using the resident’s own social history information as a foundation.
In addition to the Daily Path, we have a unique and state-of-the-art dining program that was designed by a team of specialists to help our seniors master and enjoy successful dining experiences. The Clare Bridge Dining Program offers dementia-friendly menus, individualized dining assistance, a supportive environment and consistent seating arrangements.
