What Our Memory Care Community Can Offer You
Just because someone you love is experiencing memory loss, it doesn't mean that they should have to sacrifice their quality of life. Our residents spend their days in a safe place, surrounded by familiar people who encourage them to enjoy life, experience feelings of belonging and purpose, and maintain their current skills through our daily path of engagement.
Here are just a few of the ways we help the seniors in our memory care programs make the most of this season of their lives:
A Warm and Welcoming Atmosphere
When you’re here, you’re home. Our community might have a safety-first mentality, but that doesn’t mean we skimped on the comfort. Our entire community is built for those living with Alzheimer’s or other dementia. From wayfinding cues that help guide our residents through the community to soothing colors, our community was purposefully designed to help seniors living with dementia thrive. And our bright and light-filled apartments can be customized with your loved one’s favorite family photos and keepsakes.
A Secure Setting
We offer physical features, like large circular paths designed to lead residents to areas of activity, way-finding cues and spaces decorated like home. With monitored entries and exits and an enclosed courtyard and garden, we strive to help keep our residents safe while encouraging a sense of freedom and independence to explore. You’ll also have peace of mind knowing there is trained staff on-site 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to be alerted to an emergency.
Quality Services from Trained Staff
We’re also able to provide trained staff with training specific to memory care. That means that you benefit from knowing that we are prepared to handle situations that might arise. We also offer our exclusive Personalized Service System, which allows us to provide customized plans for your family member, and you only pay for the services your loved one needs. And our attentive staff handles chores such as laundry and housekeeping, plus medication reminders, dressing, and bathing, too.
Because we know how important it is for each senior to feel accepted, we provide a peer group full of other seniors in a similar stage in their life journey. We use an evidence-based practice called the Clare Bridge Daily Path to offer a gentle daily structure of six planned programs. This established routine helps your loved one maintain his or her abilities, encourages the use of current skills and offers a sense of security and accomplishment. It’s all about providing opportunities for our residents to live their best life.
Personalized Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care
At Brookdale Puyallup South, we are committed to person-centered partnerships. In our care model, we build relationships with trust, loving concern and a sense of family. Knowing and being present with your loved one gives us a solid foundation to anticipate their needs and address behavioral expressions that may occur due to dementia symptoms. In addition, our care associates get to know our residents’ histories, routines and preferences so they can offer your loved one a sense of stability and comfort that they are well-known where they live.
