What Our Memory Care Community Can Offer You
Just because someone you love is experiencing memory loss, it doesn't mean that they should have to sacrifice their quality of life. Our residents spend their days in a safe place, surrounded by familiar people who encourage them to enjoy life, experience feelings of belonging and purpose, and maintain their current skills through our daily path of engagement.
Here are just a few of the ways we help the seniors in our memory care programs make the most of this season of their lives:
A Secure Setting
Because our community is built for just one thing, we get to be really great at it. Our community is designed from the ground up to help provide the security that seniors living with dementia need. With monitored keypad entrances and exits, and an enclosed outdoor courtyard and garden, our residents experience a sense of independence as we strive to help them safely explore their surroundings. You’ll also have peace of mind knowing there is trained staff on-site 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to be alerted to an emergency.
A Warm and Welcoming Atmosphere
Our community is built for comfort, with carefully styled common areas designed to give our residents a maximum right-at-home feeling. Visit, and you’ll see this in our dining room, with its large wall of windows providing plenty of natural light, intricately trayed ceilings, and bright chandeliers. Or in our beautiful, fireside community room, perfect for meeting up with friends for coffee. And our private apartments are a place for your loved one to be surrounded by the comfort of his or her familiar furnishings, treasured family photos and keepsakes.
Consistent Care Assignments
You want what we want—kind staff who consider your loved one family. Because your loved one deserves to experience a full life in a place where they are well known. That’s why we strive to provide consistent care assignments so that your family member is cared for by the same Brookdale associates whenever possible. This helps build out a relationship-rich partnership between a resident and their care provider, which in turn promotes familiarity and regularity. Our care team offers support throughout the day, whether during meals, taking medication, bathing, dressing or more.
We’re pioneers in memory care, and our Clare Bridge program was one of the first in the country to address the needs of Alzheimer’s and dementia residents, and we’ve never stopped perfecting it. Part of the program is a wide range of activities, with each resident involved in at least six each day, chosen around previous interests. Activities at Brookdale Salem include dancing, our B-Fit exercise program, ice cream socials, and puzzle time, each designed to be dementia-friendly and to provide maximum social interaction.
Personalized Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care
Our memory care program is deeply rooted in a person-centered approach. We focus on creating feelings of belonging and purpose for your loved one while seeking to preserve their identity and sense of self. We know how difficult it can be to trust someone else to care for your loved one. That’s why we spend time learning about our residents’ past, their likes and dislikes, and what makes them feel loved and cherished throughout an ordinary day. This helps our team meet your family member's unique needs of early, middle or late stages of Alzheimer's and other dementia.
