What Our Memory Care Community Can Offer You
Just because someone you love is experiencing memory loss, it doesn't mean that they should have to sacrifice their quality of life. Our residents spend their days in a safe place, surrounded by familiar people who encourage them to enjoy life, experience feelings of belonging and purpose, and maintain their current skills through our daily path of engagement.
Here are just a few of the ways we help the seniors in our memory care programs make the most of this season of their lives:
A Warm and Welcoming Atmosphere
Your loved one will feel right at home with our purpose-built community designed specifically for the needs of those living with dementia, including Alzheimer’s. With several floor plans to choose from, our apartments have plenty of natural window light and storage, and some even have a garden view. We’ll help you make your loved one’s apartment familiar and comfortable with a move-in guide and a suggested list of what to bring. Plus, we’re a pet-friendly community because we know it’s not really home without our four-legged family members.
A Secure Setting
Everything about our community was designed from the ground up to support those living with dementia. With monitored entries and exits and an enclosed courtyard and garden, we strive to help residents remain safe while having a sense of freedom and independence to explore. And other features such as large circular paths designed to lead residents to activity areas and way-finding cues help our residents feel comfortable. You’ll also have peace of mind knowing there is trained staff on-site 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to be alerted to an emergency.
Quality Services from Trained Staff
We don’t just hire good people; we invest in quality training and education to help keep our staff up-to-date on the latest dementia care techniques. Our kind and compassionate staff use techniques like physical prompting and cueing to help residents maintain independence, validation, and other communication techniques to promote understanding and partnership with our residents. And our attentive staff handles chores such as laundry and housekeeping while providing support throughout the day, whether during meals, taking medication, bathing or more.
The Clare Bridge Daily Path is an evidence-based approach that offers a gentle daily structure of six planned programs. This established routine helps your loved one maintain his or her abilities, encourages the use of current skills and offers a sense of security and accomplishment. Working in small cluster groups, each resident is surrounded by others with the same cognitive abilities to give them a feeling of fitting in. Activities include music and art programs, brain games and fitness classes like our B-Fit program, walking programs, and dancing.
Personalized Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care
At Brookdale Tulsa 71st and Sheridan, we understand that techniques that work for one resident may not work for another. So instead, our Clare Bridge care partners are trained to provide person-centered care. Our residents have care associates who know their histories, routines, and preferences to support a strong relationship. But Clare Bridge is more than just a care approach. Our residents also benefit from our specialized environment and attention to support them.
