Our Community

At Brookdale Wayne, you will be welcomed with a smile into our warm and inviting atmosphere.

Our community is completely handicap-accessible with elevators on either side of the building. Fun and games can be had in our first floor parlor with 24-hour snacks and beverages in the bistro. Town square on the second floor holds our beauty parlor, activity room, multi-purpose room, physical therapy gym, library, computer lab, cafe and wellness center. The outdoors can be enjoyed on our beautiful patios and walking path. Residents also have use of three-hole miniature golf and bocce ball court.

We have 95 senior apartments located on beautiful, wooded grounds. The studio apartments have a great layout with an alcove for a bed, as well as a sitting area. Our one-bedroom apartments are very large with plenty of room. The spacious common areas are attractively furnished and well-utilized.

Three homemade meals are served restaurant-style daily in elegant surroundings both in assisted living and in the memory care neighborhood. Each meal offers a variety of choices, hearty soups, fresh salads as well as an always available menu. Our Food Committee meeting is held monthly and residents have the opportunity of tailoring the menu to their preferences.

Special needs are overseen by the dining services director in conjunction with a registered dietitian and nursing services. Memory care residents use contrasting dinnerware and table linens to better enhance their dining experience.

A Wonderful, Active Lifestyle

Our residents enjoy a full range of physical, social, intellectual, and spiritual activities. We gather activity requests from our residents at our monthly activity planning meeting. Residents enjoy Wii games, staying connected to family and friends through our onsite computer labs, enjoying live entertainment and participating in volunteer programs. Religious services are conducted on a weekly basis. Choices are advertised in the monthly calendar and weekly schedule.

Our retirement community also provides a welcoming environment for friends and family to come visit their loved ones. We offer various clubs, parties, socials, hobbies and game groups. In addition, we offer exercise programs, cultural enrichment, and various off-site excursions to add to an exciting and active lifestyle.

Levels of Care

We know that there are tons of options when it comes to senior living. Wading through them all can be difficult, but we’d love to help. Here are some details about the two levels of care that we offer — Assisted Living and Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care.

Assisted Living

Our brand of Assisted Living combines rewarding lifestyles and comfortable accommodations with an exceptional blend of service, care and hospitality. With an impressive line of features and amenities, Assisted Living residents enjoy life with all the support they may require.

Carefully selected and trained associates do more than assist with activities of daily living such as dressing, bathing and dispensing of medications — they implement custom care plans designed to meet the individual needs of each resident.

It all begins with a Personal Service Assessment. We take the time to listen to our residents so we can establish clinical, dining and program support that works for them in a meaningful way.

No two seniors are alike, which is why Brookdale Assisted Living recognizes our residents’ individual needs and preferences and respond accordingly. So, whether it’s a scented lotion, a unique snack, a favorite recipe or a lifelong interest, we integrate everything we learn to create a truly individualized living experience.

We also provide the kind of help that allows our residents to live life to the fullest. So lawn work, trash hauling and laundry are all out. Group activities, hobby-related communities and off-site cultural experiences are all in!

Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care

For those of our community that need more structure in their lives, we use the Clare Bridge concept, which provides care programs and secure environments for those with Alzheimer’s disease or other types of dementia.

At Brookdale Wayne we believe no matter where an individual is in life’s journey, each has the right to live in a dignified manner and to enjoy meaningful experiences every day. Highly trained associates deliver on this promise as they provide dementia care services and enable residents to experience daily moments of success.

Deeply rooted in a person-centered approach, the Clare Bridge program focuses on sustaining feelings of belonging and purpose while seeking to preserve a sense of self. The Clare Bridge concept has evolved over a quarter of a century by continually embracing the latest research and innovations in the delivery of quality dementia care. Our teams have cared for thousands of individuals with dementia, as well as for their families.

The Clare Bridge Daily Path offers a gentle daily structure (seven days per week) choreographed with a minimum of six programs per day. All are designed to maintain the resident’s abilities and to encourage the use of their current skills. The Daily Path gives each resident a sense of security that they are “right where they need to be.” Daily Path activities include the following:

  • Morning Mental Workout with discussions, brain-stimulating games and reminiscing
  • Daily Physical Activity with exercise opportunities including “Movement is Medicine” group exercises, walking programs and dancing
  • Daily Life Skills provide a sense of purpose, meaning and belonging individually or as group activities.
  • Person-Centered Programming includes activities designed to use the resident’s “Guide to the Daily Path” social history as a foundation, by honoring past interests and involvements, programs tap into current skills and support successful experiences
  • Distribution of “We’re Keeping Our Promise” personal notes, sent periodically to family members.
