What Our Memory Care Community Can Offer You

Just because someone you love is experiencing memory loss, it doesn't mean that they should have to sacrifice their quality of life. Our residents spend their days in a safe place, surrounded by familiar people who encourage them to enjoy life, experience feelings of belonging and purpose, and maintain their current skills through our daily path of engagement.

Here are just a few of the ways we help the seniors in our memory care programs make the most of this season of their lives:

A Secure Setting
Because our community specializes in memory care services, our community is designed and built to be warm, safe, and comforting. Using industry-leading techniques like color-coding, dementia-friendly menus in our dining room, keypad entry, and personalized apartment entryways to encourage recognition, we strive to help our residents safely explore their surroundings. You’ll also have peace of mind knowing there is trained staff on-site 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to be alerted to an emergency.

A Warm and Welcoming Atmosphere
Your loved one will feel right at home with our private apartments that have plenty of natural window light and storage. And you can make your loved one’s apartment familiar and comfortable with their personal belongings and favorite furniture. On the wall outside of each apartment is a shadow box that creates a small “biography” for each resident and serves as a tool for our care team to get to know each resident.

Consistent Care Assignments
Your loved one deserves to experience a full life in a place where they are well known. That’s why we strive to provide consistent care assignments so that your loved one is cared for by the same Brookdale associates whenever possible. This helps build out a relationship-rich partnership between your family member and their care provider, which in turn promotes familiarity and regularity. Our attentive staff provides support throughout the day, whether during meals, taking medication, bathing or more.

Enriching Activities
Our Clare Bridge Daily Path approach to Alzheimer’s and dementia care provides our residents with a sense of purpose, meaning and belonging. Through a gentle structure of six programs per day, activities are tailored to maintain our residents' abilities and encourage the use of their current skills, even with advanced expressions of the disease. These include morning workouts with brain games and discussions and fitness activities such as dancing, walking, and our B-Fit program fitness program.

Personalized Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care

To support a person-centered relationship, we get to know our residents’ histories, routines and preferences. We do this to provide your loved one with a sense of stability and comfort that they are well-known where they live. At Brookdale Wilmington, our care programs are tailored to each individual, meaning they can vary significantly among residents. But one thing never changes. We meet your family member right where they are, regardless of their level of dementia, helping live their best life with independence, dignity, and courage.
