We are excited and proud to say that all our communities are open to new residents, wherever possible. When you come in for a tour, you’ll have the option to choose from an indoor and/or outdoor visit, where permitted. We also offer a virtual connection too. New residents won’t be obligated to quarantine prior to moving in. And once you move in, you’re free to come and go in the community as you wish, and accept visitors, as permitted by state regulatory requirements.

To tour your future community in person, reach out via phone or email to arrange your visit. When you speak with a local community advisor, they will help you reserve your personalized tour time, answer any questions you might have and inform you of the latest health and safety protocols in place at the community.
On the day of your personalized visit, we ask that you adhere to certain basic health and safety standards, including:
- Wearing a mask
- Social distancing
- Participating in a Coronavirus (COVID-19) screening process
Being vaccinated is not required to tour a community.
Residents do not require testing or quarantine upon move-in, except under limited circumstances. If you have had direct, known exposure to COVID-19, we will ask you to settle into your new apartment and remain isolated for 14 days from the date of your last known exposure. Additionally, some state and local regulatory guidance mandates that all new residents be tested and/or quarantined for a period of time before they engage with the wider community. For the health and safety of everyone in the community, we will abide by local, state, and CDC guidelines as we welcome new residents.
We ask that all new residents choose to follow the health and safety protocols that are in place at each community while focusing on getting connected to your community.
New residents are not required to be vaccinated to make our community their home. We do recommend that residents choose to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. We are proud to have recently completed on-site vaccination clinics as part of a US first priority program in partnership with CVS Health. We have worked diligently to create a culture that promotes universal adoption of the vaccine.
If you have not been vaccinated prior to your move, we ask that you consult with your physician to make the choice that is appropriate for your particular situation. And if you need any additional help or information specifically regarding vaccination, you can reach out to the Health and Wellness Director at your community.
Any visitors at a community will need to make an appointment prior to arrival. Once you arrive, you will need to complete a screening for COVID-19 symptoms or exposure along with a temperature check. We are limiting the number of visitors per resident to four people at a time unless otherwise required by regulatory guidance. We also ask that when you socialize that you follow CDC guidelines, observe social distancing, and wear masks when possible.
What’s the Current Protocol for Mask Wearing?
At this time, face coverings or masks are required for associates and visitors in Brookdale communities, in accordance with the direction of the CDC. As the CDC guidance evolves, the protocols at Brookdale will evolve accordingly.
- Associates and essential healthcare workers are provided with at least one surgical mask per shift and other PPE as appropriate. We also encourage the use of a cloth mask in public any time they are outside the community, including during their commute.
- All permitted visitors must wear face coverings in the community.
- Residents are strongly encouraged to wear a cloth face covering in public areas of the community as they are able.
Who Is Screened for COVID-19?
Visitors and associates are screened upon entering the community. Our residents are also screened when they enter their community, and that includes any time they enter.
What Cleaning Measures Are in Place?
Brookdale refined its long-established cleaning protocols for infection control specifically to target the COVID-19 virus, based on scientific and healthcare recommendations. We use products that are certified by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to both clean and disinfect and have been deemed effective against the virus that causes COVID-19. Associates are trained specifically on these products to understand usage and dwell times (i.e., how long a product must be in contact with a surface in order to properly disinfect it).
Community areas are cleaned regularly per protocol, including:
- Common areas such as libraries (if open)
- Associate bathrooms and breakrooms
- Public bathrooms (if open)
Every community now has at least one electrostatic sprayer, allowing common area hard surfaces to be disinfected much more efficiently after they have been cleaned. Sprayers help communities in the battle against COVID-19, disinfecting high-touch, hard surfaces at least three times per day. Two key advantages to electrostatic sprayers:
1. Speed, as disinfectant can be applied at 24,000 square-feet per hour
2. The electrostatic charge seeks out surfaces that human hands may have missed, like all around a handrail or door knob.
We’ll continue to make the health and safety of our residents and associates our top priority.
As a Brookdale resident, you can forgo going to the store for personal items and instead get them delivered right to your front door. Through our Personal Solutions program, available at most Brookdale communities, residents, or their families, can purchase items such as hearing aid batteries, shaving products, paper towels, hygiene products, and more. These items will be delivered to the apartment door without a resident ever having to interact with someone.
