There is more to a good meal than the food on the plate. That’s why we take our dining program seriously here. Each location has a unique list of offerings and services, but many of our locations have the following:

Dishes are prepared daily at the community using a wide variety of flavors, styles and taste profiles so you can always find something that satisfies your cravings. And if you need a little pick-me-up in between meals, we’ve got that covered with snacks and coffee available throughout the day.

With our Signature Seasoning program, you can control the level of flavor added to your food without adding sodium, which is important since everyone’s taste preferences are different.

We’ve designed our dining rooms in a way that reflects a private home, with plenty of natural light and a welcoming ambience. At many of our communities, you can also rent private dining rooms in your community for family celebrations, holidays and birthday parties with your loved ones.

Attentive Staff

Our staff is available on campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week to be alerted to an emergency. But they’re also available in the dining room to answer questions, address concerns or provide excellent service during meal times. You can sit back, relax and enjoy your meal in peace knowing that our staff is close by.

Optimum Life Cuisine is our approach to providing a delicious way for you to meet your healthy eating goals. It's abundant in whole grains, lean meats and poultry, fish, low-fat dairy, and it includes a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. Optimum Life choices are not only low in saturated fat and sodium but also rich in potassium, magnesium and fiber. With a variety of options appearing on our menus daily, you can eat healthy during any meal. And selecting Optimum Life Cuisine is easy! The meals are identified on the menu with a special Optimum Life logo.

Dining Experience for Memory Care Residents

Because we’ve spent years caring for seniors living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, we know their dining experience needs to be person-centered. Each of our memory care communities has been thoughtfully designed to provide your family member with the dignity and respect they deserve.

Our memory care dining programs include everything from dementia-friendly menus and nutritious meals that have been crafted to help prevent weight loss to personalized dining assistance for those who need a little help during mealtimes. Residents in our memory care communities typically sit down to eat at the same time and in the same seat to avoid unnecessary stress and confusion and to promote as much independence as possible.

Culinary Arts Institute

The Culinary Arts Institute at Brookdale is a professional development program designed to help our cooks and dining staff enhance their food preparation and presentation skills. Our team can get hands-on training and classroom instructional materials to help them develop the skills they need to provide our residents with an excellent dining experience.

Because of the great work done at our Culinary Arts Institute, many of our residents enjoy a wide variety of traditional meals as well as a selection of fresh, flavorful dishes that use low-sodium, heart-healthy cooking techniques.
