COVID-19: How We're Looking Ahead
By May 2021, approximately 90% of Brookdale residents had participated in our on-site community COVID-19 vaccination clinics. We took the opportunity to look ahead to a COVID-19 recovery phase. In this webinar, a roundtable of Brookdale leaders reflect on how the pandemic affected our communities, how helping protect our residents and associates remains a priority and moving forward in the months to come.


Kim Elliott
Kim Elliott, SVP, Chief Nursing Officer at Brookdale, successfully maintains the highest ethical standards while developing and implementing corporate processes and policies for Brookdale communities. Her experience includes long-term acute care, assisted living, skilled nursing, hospice, home health, inpatient rehabilitation, independent living and personalized living. Kim also serves as a member of the Argentum Clinical Quality Executive Roundtable. She has a master’s degree from Chamberlain College of Nursing, and is proficient in building and leading clinical programs to meet regulatory compliance and accreditation standards while exceeding quality goals.

Sara Terry
Sara Terry, Senior Vice President of Resident and Family Engagement, joined Brookdale in 2003. Before joining Brookdale, Sara served as Vice President of Operations, Clinic Management for CRAssociates. She has more than 40 years of experience in senior living and is known as a pioneer helping to change the perception and experience of aging. Sara earned a B.S in Health and Physical Education from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. She serves as a mentor and a visiting instructor at Cornell University as well as an Industry Scholar for the Cornell Institute for Healthy Aging Futures (CHIF).

Juliet Holt Klinger
Juliet Holt Klinger, Brookdale’s senior director of dementia care, is a gerontologist specializing in person-centered programs for people living with dementia. As an educator and program designer for more than 35 years, she is responsible for Brookdale’s dementia care program development, implementation and quality assurance for the company’s nearly 400 dementia care communities and provides strategy development and innovation for its dementia care product line. Juliet currently serves as a board member of the Pioneer Network—an organization devoted to promotion of person-centered care and changing the perception of aging.

Carol Cummings
Carol Cummings, RN, BSN, is Brookdale’s senior director of optimum life engagement, where she supports the well-being of residents through program and service design and education. She believes senior living should empower residents to make choices that bring meaning and purpose to their lives. During her 18-year career at Brookdale, which began as a wellness director in a community, Carol has been honored with the International Council on Active Aging Innovator Award and the Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA)’s Best of the Best. She has a passion for challenging aging stereotypes and helping older adults continue to grow and live life with dignity and respect.
