About Our Community
Emeritus at Ridge Wind is located in Chubbuck, Idaho, which is a suburb of Pocatello, Idaho. We are just about two miles west of the I-15 interchange. What appeals too many of our residents is the fact that we are located right behind the largest shopping mall in our area, The Pine Ridge Mall. Not only are there many stores to visit but also a food court with several choices for dining out. Also, within walking distance or a very short drive are a theatre, Home Depot, Wells Fargo Bank, McDonalds, and a Wal-Mart Superstore. Even though we are so close to these businesses, our community is located in a country type area with many large maple and pine trees. The cities of Pocatello and Chubbuck are surrounded by mountains. The winter snow-capped mountains are spectacular.
A Wonderful Selection
Emeritus at Ridge Wind is aesthetically pleasing both inside and out. When you drive into our spacious and convenient parking lot, you can see the beautiful and picturesque landscaping. When you step through our double doors, the sensation continues with an almost majestic open area where our residents enjoy gathering and visiting. There are marble pillars that surround the dining room just to the left of the entrance area and offices to the right. The building is one level, which is ideal for our senior residence, many of whom do not have the mobility that they had when they were younger. There are three halls that house our apartments. We have three choices of apartment styles. A Studio is perfect for a single person to occupy. The Alcove is best described by saying it is L shaped. This allows for separate areas for the bedroom and the living room. It is ideal for either a single resident, a couple, or two friends (large enough for two beds). Our third style is a one-bedroom. This room has a wall that separates the living room from the bedroom. All our rooms have private bathrooms and showers. Our community has beautiful courtyards located in several different places throughout the building where residents and their families can enjoy the nice weather or a BBQ. We have a billiard table that attracts those that love the game of pool, a hair salon for both men and women, and a garden where vegetables are planted and enjoyed in the warm summer months. We have been told many times that our community is warm and inviting. It is first and foremost a home.
Strong, Caring Professional Relationships
Emeritus at Ridge Wind is well known and has a good reputation for excellent staff and care by other healthcare professionals in our area. We are well-known known to the skilled nursing facilities, home health and hospice agencies, and the majority of physicians in S.E. Idaho. Not only do they know us but they trust us to refer their clients to us on a regular basis. They know that when they refer someone to us that they either need to discharge from their care or find continuous care for, they can trust that we will carry out either the same or even better care than they were able to give. Many professionals who visit our community give us comments like, “I will send my parent here when the time comes for them to have assisted with daily life,” or “I did not realize what a wonderful operation you are running here.”
We have a dedicated, kind, compassionate, and hard working staff. Each person that is hired undergoes screening and training to ensure that they are the right fit for our team. We live and work with the Brookdale Family Values. We honor our residents and they are loved. When people come to work at Emeritus at Ridge Wind, they often end up staying with us for years. If one of our care staff does take a leave because of personal issues, like the birth of a baby or continued education, they often end up returning to work with us again. Potential residents should know that we have the very best people that we can find working for us here at Emeritus at Ridge Wind. They take their careers seriously and work above and beyond what is expected.
Our Community Lifestyle
A Wonderful, Active Lifestyle
The weekdays at Emeritus at Ridge Wind are full of activity and entertainment. The week days start with an exercise class to keep our residents fit and strong, followed by a time of reminiscing or discussing local or national headlines. Each morning also includes snacks. Everyone gets hungry in between meals, so we deliver cheese, crackers, fruit and juice to our residents. After lunch we have two afternoon activities which vary from day to day. From horseshoes to manicures, there are fun things to do every day. On special occasions, we have parties such as a Hawaiian Luau in the summer, senior dances on the weekend, carnivals complete with games and prizes, birthday parties with cake, ice cream and balloons, Thanksgiving dinner, and to end each year, a family Christmas dinner where we have entertainment and a very special menu.
Partnering with the Community
We support the community by being involved in the annual canned food drive for the Idaho Food Bank, making gift boxes for needy children at Christmas time, providing school supplies for a local elementary school, hosting a public Easter egg hunt where hundreds of children flock to our property to hunt for Easter eggs, and more. Each year, Emeritus at Ridge Wind sponsors the Senior Games and caters the dinner for the opening ceremony. This past year we fed over 300 people a delicious dinner before they entered into the various competitions.
Emeritus at Ridge Wind provides family style dining but in a restaurant style dining room. We serve three meals a day. Breakfast starts with coffee (of course) or cocoa, cold or hot cereal and juice. Then you are served a hot plate. From eggs made to order with toast to sausage gravy and biscuits, no one wants to miss our delicious breakfasts. Lunch is our largest meal of the day and starts with hot and cold drinks to order and then a green salad with dressing. Then hot plates are served. From roast beef with mashed potatoes and vegetables to salmon with mango salsa and pasta, there is much variety. Each lunch also includes a delicious dessert and sugar free dessert is always available. Dinner is on the lighter side with drinks, salad and sandwiches to spaghetti and garlic bread. Variety makes for a dinner to look forward to. Dessert is also included with dinner.
