Memory care shouldn’t have to mean giving up on a great quality of life. At Brookdale Wilmington, we provide services that help seniors with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia thrive. We don’t settle for existing. Instead, our goal for each of our seniors is to develop a life that maintains a sense of self, while experiencing daily moments of success through dementia-friendly activities and community that gently steers seniors throughout their days. From our carefully designed building to a nurturing and highly trained staff, specialized programming and management, we focus on providing those moments to each resident and their family.
Brookdale was a pioneer in the development of memory care over 25 years ago, and we’ve never stopped perfecting our programs. Our small community offers a comfortable, home-like environment, which is ideal for individuals with memory loss. And because unlike many senior living communities, we’re specialized to memory care, we’re able to provide specific care and services that will help you or your loved one live life well.
Memory Care at Brookdale Wilmington
People living with early, middle and late stages of Alzheimer’s and other dementia need distinct support. That’s why our memory care focuses on offering a more personalized experience. Techniques that work for one resident may not work for another, so we tailor care to each resident and help ensure their needs are well-known with consistent care assignments. This relationship-rich care encourages familiarity and helps us anticipate your loved one’s unmet needs and lessen behavioral symptoms. Here are some of the programs we offer:
Clare Bridge is our exclusive brand of dementia care created more than 30 years ago.
Clare Bridge Solace is designed to meet the special needs of residents in the advanced stages of dementia.
ActivitiesOur goal is to provide opportunities for your loved one to live their best life here. One way we do that is by offering dementia-friendly activities like gardening, music programs, brain games, specially-designed fitness classes and art workshops. Because it’s also important for each resident to feel like they fit in, we create peer groups with residents that share similar skills and abilities.
DiningThree home-style meals and delicious snacks are served daily in our dining area. To help alleviate any confusion or added stress, we keep mealtimes very routine for your family member. All residents sit together at the same time and same table each day. And our care associates are trained to address dining challenges, such as difficulty swallowing or handling utensils, using prompts, adapted recipes and specialized table settings.
Our memory care program is deeply rooted in a person-centered approach. We offer the necessary resources and nurturing staff to care for those with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.
