About Our Community
Emeritus at Lakewood’s senior living community is located in a wooded area just inside the village. We are in a quiet park-like setting in a residential area, but we are just minutes away are restaurants and stores. You would never know in our quiet location how close we are to all the conveniences. The city of Jamestown is just five miles away and very convenient for doctor and other appointments.
Our location in the woods is a perfect setting to enjoy the changing of the seasons. Whether it’s the spring flowers, the colors of the fall foliage or the beauty of the snow on the trees in the winter; we have the perfect views. We are located just minutes from Chautauqua Lake and take advantage of all it offers. Whether cruising on the “Summer Wind”, dining at one of the many lakefront restaurants, or taking a scenic ride; our residents have opportunity to enjoy the beauty around them. We are located close to Chautauqua Institution with its wonderful cultural and entertainment offerings during the summer season and, during the rest of the year, we have the Lucille Ball Little Theater and the Reg Lenna Civic Center events to visit.
A Wonderful Selection
Emeritus at Lakewood offers four sizes of senior apartments. This allows our residents the ability to select the most home-like setting for their particular situation. Our apartments range in size from studios to two bedrooms. Each has a private bath and kitchenette. All are carpeted and each has a great view of the property.
Set on 23 acres in a quiet wooded area with beautifully landscaped grounds, Emeritus at Lakewood is one of Western New York’s premier senior living communities. Just five miles from I-86, our community offers 77 senior apartments on two floors. Our common areas, including our lovely dining room, TV room and wellness center, give residents and their loved ones the opportunity to socialize and form friendships. We also offer a wide range of activities every month including off-site excursions to the Chautauqua Institution, local dining establishments, Chautauqua Lake and area shopping centers. Transportation is also available to your local doctors’ appointments and other health-related needs.
Strong, Caring Professional Relationships
We strive to maintain strong professional relationships in the community with the other healthcare facilities and providers. By keeping the communication lines open with the WCA and other area hospitals and facilities such as the Heritage Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center and Lutheran Social Services, we are able to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents when situations arise that need other temporary health care solutions. The relationships with our local physicians are another bond that we continue to nurture and grow to provide a continuum of care for our residents.
Emeritus at Lakewood offers excellent care as demonstrated by their last two year’s of Department of Health surveys. In addition, we have received certificates of excellence for achieving a 95% or greater resident satisfaction survey rating. Emeritus at Lakewood has also been recognized by the Jamestown Area Youth Soccer for our continued sponsorship and support. Emeritus at Lakewood has been presented with the Ann Marie Fitzer Memorial Award of Excellence by the Chautuaqua County Office of the Aging and Chautauqua Works.
Our Community Lifestyle
A Wonderful, Place to Live
At Lakewood at Emeritus, we build our activity and social programs around the interests of our residents. We schedule both large and small group activities to ensure that we are offering something for everyone. There are choices of social, physical, mental, spiritual, and cultural activities. We offer many opportunities for outdoor excursions and provide a variety of entertainment in the community. We value family involvement and plan many family events throughout each month. Our residents help in the planning of activities, and we rely on them for feedback so that their activity calendar can be filled with things they enjoy.
The staff at Emeritus at Lakewood believes in promoting an active lifestyle for our residents that allows them to keep both mind and body active. We offer daily exercise each morning and at least one brain-healthy activity every day. Our word find activities are particularly popular and offer not only stimulation but also healthy competition. Bingo and shuffleboard are very popular along with our weekly cocktail party. Entertainment is planned on a regular basis and always draws a crowd. Monthly family nights, with either entertainment or games, are extremely popular. Families are welcome to join us and participate in many of our activities. Holiday time brings a host of special events including a “Light Up” ceremony, an orchestra concert, a family and resident holiday party, special entertainment and a day long holiday bazaar with over 25 vendors in a day. We pride ourselves on not only providing special events but also on having a full daily calendar of activities.
Active Community Relationship
Emeritus at Lakewood is committed to community involvement. At least four times a year, we host dinners to benefit causes that particularly serve seniors in our area such as Meals on Wheels, Kiwanis, and others. Lakewood serves as headquarters for the Friendship Fund, an organization that provides gifts for seniors during the holidays. The Red Hat Society and Jamestown Seniors meet here monthly. We also provide meeting space for the AARP Board of Directors and the United Senior Council. In addition, our community is available to local groups for meetings, meals, and activities.
Partnering with the Local Community
At Emeritus of Lakewood we take pride in our community involvement. We sponsor a two-mile stretch of Route 394 that our staff volunteers to clean up several times a year. In addition, we support our local Kiwanis Club by hosting a dinner for their benefit once a year. In return, they sponsor a game night for our residents. Further, we do benefit dinners for Meals On Wheels, the Jamestown Area Christmas Friendship Fund and other groups that benefit seniors in the community. We serve as headquarters for the Jamestown Area Christmas Friendship Fund. This organization purchases, wraps, and distributes gifts during the holidays to all of the skilled nursing and adult homes in Chautauqua County. Our residents take pride in their ability to help with the wrapping each year. In return, all of our residents receive small gifts from the group. We work with our local schools to provide opportunities for the students and our residents to interact with each other. It is a tradition that the 80-piece Jamestown High School orchestra play a holiday concert in our dining room every December. Additionally, our residents have the opportunity to attend musical performances at two of our local high schools, and the cast of the Jamestown High School musical comes each year to present a preview performance.
We offer three meals a day in our beautiful spacious dining room. All meals include a variety of choices served restaurant-style in pleasant surroundings. Meals offer our residents not only tasty, nutritional meals but also provide an opportunity to socialize with table companions. Refreshments and good food are a part of many of our activities, including cocktails and hors’douvres on Fridays and appetizers and wine with the Wednesday evening meal. Monthly, we offer a buffet breakfast and, throughout the year, many special-event dinners.
