- How to Read Your Brookdale Bill
March 11, 2019
Confused about the items on your monthly bill and what they mean? Here’s a step-by-step explanation of your Assisted Living or Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care bill and how to read it.
Your Basic Service Rate is the charge for your monthly rent. It should remain the same from month-to-month. However, be sure to refer to your contract to account for annual rate increases. If you have received a discount from a special promotional event, you will see this itemized as well.
Any personal care services provided to you will fall under your Personal Service Rate. This includes personal care, such as dressing and grooming, bathing, medication management or pet care.
You may notice your Personal Service Rate fluctuate from month-to-month. That’s because your rate changes depending on the services you receive. If you receive new or additional services, your rate will be adjusted to reflect those changes.
Individual care services are not itemized on your bill. If you’d like more information on your Personal Service charges, you can reach out to your community’s health and wellness director.
Ancillary charges are any expenses not directly covered by your Basic and Personal Service Rates. These may be added to your bill should you receive any additional services throughout the month, including additional meals or activities.
If you have questions or concerns, we’re happy to help. You can contact your community’s executive director, who will be able to speak to your bill, or call Brookdale at 800-383-9993.
*Please note this information applies to Assisted Living and Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care residents only.
