Little Women
Several film adaptations of Louisa May Alcott’s novel, Little Women, have been created throughout the years, with the two most recent being the 1994 version, directed by Gillian Armstrong, and the 2019 version, directed by Greta Gerwig. Both versions follow the March sisters as they grow from young children to adults with their own dreams and desires. The movies follow the March family over the course of many years and seasons but have some beautiful scenes set during autumn in New England. The scenery paired with themes of family and gratitude make this story a perfect addition to the fall movie list.
For many, fall means football season. In between watching your favorite team this fall, consider adding Remember the Titans to your watch list. This movie takes place in the early 1970s when an all-Black school was forced to integrate with an all-white school and the football team learns to work together, despite outside opinions. This dramatic comedy, or dramedy, reminds us how important teamwork is, even when faced with adversity.

Set at an all-boys boarding school in the fall and winter, the story follows a group of friends and their fascination with an interesting new English teacher, played by Robin Williams, as they discover the power of poetry. Even though you’ll need a box of tissues sitting nearby, the sad moments in this movie are dispersed amongst inspiring quotes and smile-inducing scenes that have made this movie a favorite of so many.
Wes Anderson fans are probably already familiar with this stop-motion film where we follow Mr. Fox, voiced by George Clooney, as he tries to tame his wild side and become more of a father figure to his children and responsible husband to his wife, voiced by Meryl Streep. Not only does the movie’s warm color palette evoke thoughts of fall foliage but it’s themes of family and community are also perfect for this time of year.

This movie would be a great one to watch with the whole family, grandkids included! It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown is a festive way to celebrate Halloween with nothing spooky. Filled with Halloween parties, a silly costume from Snoopy, and the elusive Great Pumpkin, this fall classic is the perfect pick if you want to curl up on the couch with a bowl full of your favorite sweet treat for movie nights.
